Job description
TASK DESCRIPTION: The incumbent of this task performs aircraft nondestructive inspections and testing of aircraft structures and aircraft/engine components.
TASK REQUIREMENTS:
- Inspect/test aircraft component parts using nondestructive testing equipment and techniques. Inspection/testing methods include visual or optical, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, eddy current, ultrasonic, radiographic, and spectrometric oil analysis.
- Processes exposed X-ray film for viewing.
- Use technical publications in skill area and practice safety and fire precautions around aircraft and work center.
- Support OJT and cross training of KAF personnel.
MINIMUM PERSONNEL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Qualified NDT technician with four (4) years' experience.
- Graduate of a Maintenance NDT/Inspection course.
- Have Non-Destructive Inspection (NDI) operator training in liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, spectrometer, X-ray, and eddy current.
- Qualified and certified under MIL-STD-410, ASNT SNT-TC-1A, or other equivalent qualification program up to Level II certification.
- Must have within past year a vision test that shows: Near vision at least one (1) eye ortho-rate eight (8) or of Jaeger #2 at 12 inches color perception ability to distinguish and differentiate between applicable colors used in NDI process.
- USAF, USN, USMC, US Army, Kuwaiti, Canadian and Australian Air Force experience is also applicable to these tasks.
- No security clearance required.
