Specimen Accessioner – Cleveland, Ohio

The role includes:

  • Entering patient demographic and test information accurately into the computer system.
  • Processing and accessioning laboratory samples for in-house testing and reference lab testing.
  • Troubleshooting problems when necessary.
  • Setting up and preparing samples for testing and ensuring that specimens are delivered to the proper department for testing and placed on the instrument.
  • Performing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment, wearing the proper personal protective equipment, and practicing and supporting safety in the workplace.
  • Ensuring specimen stability and identifying specimen errors and following procedures to correct problems including proper documentation and proper completion of all work.
  • Supporting Laboratory goals, policies, procedures, and philosophy.
  • Preparing samples and paperwork to be sent to appropriate reference lab or AHA location.
  • Scanning requisitions, running missing requisition reports, and following up.
