Job Overview:

Requirement/Must Have:

  • HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of computers with a preferred knowledge of laboratory testing and/or laboratory specimen processing.
  • No experience required but previous laboratory experience preferred.
  • Medical background preferred which includes medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
  • Previous experience in a production environment preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform functions including A-station, presort, pickup and delivery of processed specimens to the laboratory, imaging/microfilming, centrifugation and aliquoting.
  • Ensure all functions are performed with confidence, accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain good organization skills and learn and understand specimen types related to test(s) ordered.
  • Understand compliance regulations related to test ordering which may change on a daily basis.
  • Adapt to many different demands made by the customer.
  • Work primarily on the nightshift with flexibility for weekends, holidays, on call and overtime availability.
  • Work in a production environment, emphasizing productivity/quality standards and departmental completion times.
  • Enter 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes/hour.
  • Practice good safety habits in a biohazard environment.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Adhere to core values, safety and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Keep work area neat and clean.
