Job Overview:

A SPD Technician plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety by maintaining cleanliness, functionality, and readiness of all surgical and procedural instruments used throughout the healthcare system. This position supports the Operating Room, Delivery Room, Minor Surgery, and various clinical departments by performing highly detailed technical work that directly impacts the quality of patient care.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • CRCST Certification
  • 1–3 years of previous hospital experience

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem
  • Evening

Essential Functions:

  • Understands the cleaning products and procedures used in Central Service and is able to choose the appropriate cleaning method for each item.
  • Process and maintains surgical instruments for OR, Delivery Room, Dental clinic, clinics, ED, X-Ray, Minor Surgery and nursing units.
  • Picks all instruments and assembles instrument trays and baskets for OR, ED, Delivery Room, Minor Surgery, X-Ray, nursing units and various other departments.
  • Operates and maintains all mechanical cleaning machinery, sterilizer, cart washer, decomats and drying cabinets, etc, within the Central Service department.
  • Sorts, examines, delints, folds, wraps and sterilizes linen.
  • Performs all other duties when requested
