About The Role

The role of the Sr. Benefits Account Manager is to support the team through their professional experience in account management. The Sr. Benefits Account Manager applies the core principles of insurance to everyday situations and demonstrates the skills and knowledge to understand specific needs or requirements that may require an inventive approach. Sr. Benefits Account Managers perform more advanced responsibilities and are primarily points of contact for the clients they oversee. They develop coverage strategies and plans. Sr. Benefit Account Managers have their own accounts and likely work with more complex or demanding clients. This role requires strong relationship management skills, deep knowledge of employee benefits products and the ability to provide strategic advice to clients. Required to have the necessary insurance license(s).

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of employee benefits clients.
  • Develop and maintain a strong relationship with clients to understand their needs, objectives, and challenges.
  • Conduct regular meetings with clients to review their benefit programs and discuss potential improvements.
  • Provide strategic advice to clients on employee benefits plans, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
  • Analyze and evaluate clients' current benefit programs and make recommendations for enhancements.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and regulatory changes that may impact clients' benefits strategies.
  • Collaborate with clients to design and implement employee benefits plans that align with their objectives and budget.
  • Work with insurance carriers and vendors to negotiate plan terms, pricing, and services.
  • Oversee the implementation of new benefits plans, ensuring a smooth transition for clients and their employees.
  • Ensure clients' benefits plans comply with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide guidance on compliance issues, including the Affordable Care Act (ACA), ERISA, HIPAA, section 125 plans, SPD, FSA, HRA, form 5500 filing and COBRA.
  • Assist clients with benefits administration, including enrollment, claims, and employee communications.
  • Conduct benefits education for clients and their employees to explain plan options and changes.
  • Prepare and distribute communications materials, such as newsletters, brochures, and presentations.
  • Address client and employee inquires promptly and professionally.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior account managers and support staff.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, underwriting, and customer service to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to improve service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Serves as the primary group level contact for day-to-day requests, account oversight and escalation for critical client service issues, responding timely and accurately to ensure client satisfaction.
  • Responsible for coordinating the pre-renewal strategy and planning of assigned groups, including the scheduling of meetings, marketing, quoting, plan analysis and compilation of presentation materials.
  • Present renewals, recommend benefit plan options, and confirm client decisions for designated accounts.
  • Strategize with the account executive/broker to support all marketing, renewal, and open enrollment related activities.
  • Serves as knowledgeable resource for account management support team and clients in areas of eligibility, claims, COBRA, underwriting guidelines, and employee benefits compliance.
  • Delegates tasks to support team members as appropriate, ensuring work is completed within stated timeframes.
  • Acquire and maintain high level experience in Applied Epic, Microsoft Office, Ease, Employee Navigator, Suvaun and other agency supported technology tools.
  • Pursues professional development and continuing education by keeping current with technology tools, regulatory changes, product and service enhancements, and other industry trends.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills including correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation in correspondence.
  • High degree of critical thinking; ability to problem solve when the answer is not readily apparent.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, producing outcomes with minimal errors.
  • Understanding of insurance concepts and applicable law as it related to employee benefits.
  • Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced level proficiency with a variety of technology including MS Office
  • Works well with minimal supervision; able to function independently and as part of a team.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher is preferred, or equitable experience.
  • Five + years' experience servicing employee benefit clients in the small and large group segment
  • Ability to ability to management multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
  • L&H license required.

Pay Details:

The base compensation range for this position is $110,000 - $130,000. This range reflects Acrisure's good faith estimate at the time of this posting. Placement within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity.

Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
