What we need

Symbotic is seekinga highly skilled Senior AutoCAD Designer to join our Systems Layout & Structural Engineering Team. This senior technical role focuses on producing advanced 2D AutoCAD deliverables for complex steel structures, automation systems, and largescale robotics projects. While all drawings are produced in 2D AutoCAD, this role must work closely with our 3D Revit Team to ensure alignment between 2D layouts, 3D models, and overall project intent.

The ideal candidate brings deep AutoCADexpertise, strongproblem-solvingskills, and the ability to lead design efforts across multidisciplinary teams. This position also plays a key role in mentoring junior designers, influencing CAD standards, and driving quality and consistency across the organization.

The System Layout Engineering team is part of the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Organization, whichis responsible fordeveloping the customer's warehouse layout,facilitatingsupply chain execution, and delivering world-class support to the installation team. The System Layout Engineering team drives warehouse design excellence through the incorporation of internal and external customer feedback with a consistent focus on reducing costs for both material and project execution lead times.

What you'll do

  • Lead the creation, modification, and management ofhighly complex2D AutoCAD drawingsfor steel structures, automation systems, and robotic layouts.

  • Coordinate closely with the3D Revit Teamto ensure 2D deliverables accurately reflect 3D models, spatial constraints, and structural requirements.

  • Interpret engineering specifications, architectural plans, and technical documents to produce complete andaccuratedesign packages.

  • Own and enforce CAD standards, quality control processes, and best practices across the design team.

  • Review,validate, and approve drawings created by junior designers to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance.

  • Identifydesign risks early, propose solutions, and support technicaldecision makingfor largescale projects.

  • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously with minimal supervision,ensuringontimedelivery of all drawing packages.

  • Mentor and train junior Designers in CAD techniques, standards, workflows, and project execution.

  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of CAD templates, libraries, automation tools, and drafting workflows.

  • Ensure all drawingscomply withindustry codes, internal standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with sales, engineering, manufacturing, installation teams, and external partners to support projectsuccess from conceptthrough installation.

  • Deliver drawing packages that reduce field rework, installation delays, and engineering change orders.

  • Maintain drawing accuracy and consistency that supports efficient fabrication and installation.

  • Improve team productivity by contributing to CAD standards, reusable content, and workflow optimization.

  • Serve as a technical authority for 2D structural and automation layout design, influencinglong-termCAD strategy,including programming language (AutoLISP; PYTHON} trends and improvements for automated creation of 2D geometry.

  • Ensure project deliverables meet or exceed quality benchmarks, contributing to customer satisfaction and repeat business.

What you'll need

  • Minimum5+ yearsof AutoCAD design experience in engineering, architecture, manufacturing, or related fields.

  • Expert levelproficiencyin 2D AutoCAD with the ability to produce complex, highly detailed drawings.

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, steel structures, and construction/manufacturing processes.

  • Proven ability to lead design efforts and coordinate with cross functional teams, including 3D modeling groups.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

  • Experience inmaterial handling, automation systems, or industrial environmentsis a strong plus.

  • Up to 10%of travel may berequired. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.

  • The employeeis responsible forowning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $87,000.00 - $119,900.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
