Job description

Purpose/Scope
The Quality Supervisor leads the Quality Department, performs, and documents research and development projects, troubleshoots product problems and ensures compliance with documented production and quality procedures, so product is produced that meets or exceeds quality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures compliance with established Fabcon procedures and policies to include Safety, Quality, and Production Standards.
  • Work with the Quality Supervisor/Lead to coordinate Quality personnel responsibilities.
  • Responsible for hiring Quality personnel and assisting with training as required.
  • Coach and develop Quality personnel and addresses performance issues as appropriate.
  • Performs and documents research and development projects.
  • Performs troubleshooting tests to improve the quality of the product. Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
  • Conducts Root Cause Analyses to identify source of quality issues.
  • Responsible for monthly and weekly metric output and continuous improvement activities.
  • Implements plant and corporate Quality initiatives and incorporates them into plant goals/objectives.
  • Support the work of the Quality Team to ensure that products and processes align with the appropriate requirements.
  • Leads by example when displaying the core values, honesty, integrity, work ethic, and respect for others.
  • Site QMS Management Representative.
  • Leads internal and external audits as necessary.

Basic Qualifications
  • College Degree (in Engineering, Science, Business, or related field) required or equivalent experience.
  • Five years' management and quality experience.

Other Required Qualifications
  • Ability to interact/communicate (both written and verbally) effectively with all levels within the organization as well as customers and suppliers.
  • Knowledgeable in Process Control/Process Capability/Lean-Six Sigma Methodologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and statistical data analysis capabilities.
  • Proficient in Root Cause Analysis methods.
  • Lean experience.
  • Good blueprint reading skills.
  • Customer Service focus.
  • Good computer skills; proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook and ERP.
  • Good budgeting skills and financial acumen.
  • Successful track record of running Quality function and building an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort.
  • Good mentorship skills
  • History of successfully managing multiple priorities at a time.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ten years of Quality or a combination of Quality and Management experience.
  • ASQ Certifications.
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing, Technician Grade I Certification.
  • PCI Level III Certification.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • Office: Move 25 lbs. (not for all jobs, reasonable accommodations will be made), work with a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Plant/Yard: Move minimum of 50 lbs., spatial awareness/depth perception, walk, climb, bend at the waist, reach, forceful use of hand tools, vocal projection.

Work Environment
This position works in office and plant environments with occasional travel and visits to field construction sites.
  • Office: Quiet with some ambient noise, climate controlled, fluorescent lighting.
  • Field: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Midwest and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles.
  • Plant/Yard: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Midwest and Northeast), dirt/dust, noise from heavy machinery/vehicles, vibrations from machinery and vehicles, loud noises, little to no climate control, varying amounts of light, stairs, narrow walkways.
