About This Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary and inquisitive Postdoctoral Research Fellow/Research Officer to build an emerging research profile within a highly collaborative, multidisciplinary translational cardiovascular research program. Working across The University of Queensland, the Critical Care Research Group, the Wesley Research Institute, and The Prince Charles Hospital, you will contribute to ambitious, purpose-driven research that integrates spatial biology, computational pathology, quantitative imaging, and clinical data to advance understanding of cardiovascular disease. You will be supported by a collegial research culture that values collaboration, innovation, and impact.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Research: Producing high-quality research outputs through publication in leading journals; contributing to competitive grant applications; applying and advancing best-practice computational and analytical methodologies; developing an emerging, coherent research profile in translational cardiovascular science and computational biology; contributing to the development of computational pipelines for analysis of spatial biology datasets (e.g., multiplex imaging, histopathology, spatial transcriptomics); applying computational approaches to high-dimensional, multi-modal datasets integrating imaging, molecular, and clinical data; and contributing to the analysis of human tissue-derived datasets, particularly in cardiovascular or related disease contexts.

  • Supervision and Researcher Development: Contributing to the supervision and development of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students, fostering a positive and inclusive research training environment.

  • Citizenship and Service: Demonstrating alignment with UQ values through collaboration, participation in internal service activities, and the development of emerging external partnerships with clinical, industry, and research stakeholders.

About You

You will bring a strong foundation in computational and translational research, combined with curiosity, integrity, and a collaborative mindset. You will demonstrate:

  • Completion or near completion of a PhD in cardiovascular spatial biology or a closely related discipline.

  • An emerging research profile with evidence of publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations.

  • Demonstrated experience in computational analysis of complex biological datasets, including imaging, spatial omics, or other high-dimensional molecular data.

  • Strong programming skills, for example in Python, and familiarity with scientific computing and reproducible data analysis workflows.

  • Experience in spatial biology, computational pathology, or histopathology image analysis.

  • Experience integrating imaging, molecular, and clinical datasets within a biomedical or translational research context.

  • Exposure to cardiovascular biology, human tissue research, or clinically oriented datasets.

  • A collaborative, inclusive approach to research, supervision, and service that aligns with UQ's values.
