Job description

Job Announcement
Producer, Recurring Video Formats
(US or MENA Region)
About MBN
Middle East Broadcasting Networks (MBN) is the premier Arabic-first media organization that connects the Middle East and the United States. The company is in the midst of an exciting digital transformation and looking for energetic and talented people who care about journalism and the Middle East to join us on this journey.
We provide original and indispensable reporting, perspectives and commentary on the Middle East and how America's engagement impacts the region. MBN delivers content in both Arabic and English across multiple platforms, in formats including written articles, short-form video, newsletters, podcasts, data trackers and social media.
Our target audience is decision-makers, influencers, and residents of key capitals across the Middle East, as well as the next generation of globally engaged, digitally connected youth.
About the Role
The Producer of Recurring Video Formats takes MBN's editorial output and builds visual content that keeps audiences engaged - contet like a 90-second explainer that makes the U.S.-Gulf tech relationship legible to a 28-year-old in Dubai; a recurring visual series that gives MBN's Baghdad correspondent a visual identity; or a short-form franchise that turns the Iran Briefing into something a Washington policy analyst can share before their morning meeting.
The right candidate can create dynamic content in two languages - Arabic and English. The role requires technical fluency - editing, scripting, motion, pacing - as well as the judgment to know when which format is most appropriate for each piece of content
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following tasks are considered essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions:
Developing and Owning Formats
  • Designs and builds new recurring video formats tailored to MBN's bilingual (Arabic and English) audiences.
  • Develops the visual identity, structural arc, and editorial logic of each format.
  • Maintains and evolves existing formats based on performance data and editorial judgment.
  • Works in both Arabic and English - developing formats for each language separately, not translating one into the other, because Arabic-language visual storytelling has its own rhythms, registers, and audience expectations

Production and Scripting
  • Produces short-form video optimized for Alhurra.com, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and the MBN app - understanding that each platform has a different audience behavior and a different editorial standard
  • Scripts in both Arabic and English - or in close collaboration with bilingual correspondents and editors - preserving the editorial intent of the original reporting in both languages
  • Works directly with MBN correspondents in Beirut, Baghdad, Jerusalem, Cairo, and Washington to transform filed reporting into visual packages

Consistency and Brand Identity
  • Maintains MBN's visual identity across all recurring formats - keeping tone, pacing, graphic standards, and language register consistent.
  • Ensures that formats developed for Arabic-language audiences are recreated for English language audiences.

Performance and Iteration
  • Tracks audience performance data for all recurring formats and brings specific, data-grounded recommendations to the editorial team.
  • Uses AI-assisted production tools, including those for automated captioning, transcription, visual optimization, and content pacing analysis - as part of the standard workflow

Other Duties:
Perform additional job-related duties and take on new responsibilities as needed based on organizational requirements and circumstances.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Candidates are required to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, video production, or related field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Editorial bilingual fluency in Arabic and English. The ability to write, script, and editorial-judge in both languages independently.
  • 3-5 years of experience in digital video production at a news organization, digital media company, or broadcasting entity.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing repeatable formats
  • Strong scripting skills in both Arabic and English - the ability to compress a complex story into 90 seconds without losing the argument
  • Experience editing short-form video for social-first distribution - vertical formats, platform-native pacing, and caption and text overlay standards in Arabic and English
  • Understanding of Arabic visual storytelling conventions - RTL text, typography, the distinct visual register of Arabic-language broadcast and digital journalism
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted video production tools and the editorial judgment to know when to use them and when not to

Preferred
  • Experience working in or covering the Middle East.
  • Background in journalism, not just production.
  • Experience producing for Gulf, Levantine, and North African audiences specifically.

MBN is an equal opportunity employer committed to workforce diversity.
