Job description

About The Sorrel River Ranch Experience

Sorrel River Ranch is a place where guests and staff come together through a shared love of good food, meaningful connection, and the beauty of Moab. We create experiences rooted in ranch life—fresh, locally grown ingredients, restorative moments along the river, unforgettable adventures, and hands-on learning that deepens our appreciation for the incredible world around us.

We’re looking for a hands-on, dependable Maintenance Mechanic who enjoys solving problems, working with their hands, and keeping a one-of-a-kind property running smoothly.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Maintenance Mechanic helps maintain the ranch’s buildings, equipment, mechanical systems, guest spaces, and operational areas. From fixing a leaky faucet to troubleshooting HVAC or electrical equipment, you’ll play an important role in keeping Sorrel safe, comfortable, and guest-ready.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting throughout the property.
  • Handle plumbing repairs including faucets, pipes, water heaters, toilets, disposals, and appliances.
  • Perform electrical repairs involving switches, outlets, fans, fuses, and climate-control systems.
  • Assist with carpentry, drywall, doors, windows, flooring, roofing, and fixtures.
  • Maintain HVAC, refrigeration, kitchen, and laundry equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems, including equipment up to 480 volts.
  • Work safely with refrigerants, chemicals, tools, and mechanical systems.
  • Follow all PPE, lockout/tagout, and safety procedures.
  • Support basic property technology including phones, internet, door locks, and work-order systems.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and radio calls in a timely, professional manner.
  • Complete daily assignments, maintenance logs, and work orders.
  • Help with emergencies and other projects as needed.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
  • Previous general maintenance experience; hotel or resort experience preferred.
  • Strong HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing skills.
  • Apprenticeship or journeyman certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial kitchen and laundry equipment.
  • Refrigeration experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Good communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude with genuine guest-service instincts.
  • Comfortable working independently and responding when something unexpected needs fixing.
  • Flexible availability, including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand, walk, crawl, bend, kneel, and lift up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
WHY SORREL?

At Sorrel, no two days are exactly alike. You’ll work across a luxury resort, working ranch, farm, and riverfront property surrounded by the incredible landscape of Moab.

If you’re someone who likes figuring things out, takes pride in doing quality work, and wants to live and work somewhere truly unique, come be part of the team that keeps Sorrel running.

Limited rental housing may be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Compensation based on experience.

Applicants must already have legal authorization to work in the United States.

Sorrel River Ranch Resort & Spa is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
