What you will have an opportunity to do:

The Director of Finance serves as a key member of the Executive Committee and is responsible for the strategic leadership, direction, and oversight of all financial operations for The Shores Resort & Spa. This role ensures the integrity of financial reporting, protects company assets, drives profitability, and provides financial guidance to the General Manager and ownership.

The Director of Finance partners closely with department leaders to maximize revenue opportunities, control expenses, improve operational efficiencies, and support exceptional guest experiences while maintaining compliance with all company policies and accounting standards.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic financial leadership and recommendations to the General Manager and Executive Committee.
  • Develop annual operating budgets, capital budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
  • Analyze financial performance and recommend initiatives to improve profitability and cash flow.
  • Lead monthly financial review meetings with department heads.
  • Oversee all accounting functions including
  • Ensure accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company standards.
  • Maintain strong internal controls to safeguard resort assets.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis of resort operations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Analyze labor costs, departmental productivity, and expense trends.
  • Monitor capital expenditures and return on investment.
  • Support pricing strategies alongside Revenue Management and Commercial leadership.
  • Work collaboratively with department leaders to achieve financial objectives.
  • Support Food & Beverage, Spa, Recreation, Rooms, Engineering, and Sales leadership through financial guidance and performance analysis.
  • Assist in evaluating new business opportunities, programming, and capital investments.
  • Ensure compliance with all accounting regulations, tax requirements, and corporate policies.
  • Coordinate annual audits and tax preparation.
  • Maintain insurance reporting and compliance documentation.
  • Oversee licensing, permits, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to internal control standards.
  • Manage daily cash flow and banking relationships.
  • Oversee capital planning and fixed asset accounting.
  • Monitor reserve accounts and capital expenditure projects.
  • Ensure appropriate inventory controls throughout the resort.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required.
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive hotel finance leadership experience.
  • Previous Director of Finance experience in a full-service resort or luxury hotel preferred.
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations including Rooms, Food & Beverage, Spa, Recreation, and Group Sales.
  • Experience preparing annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and hospitality accounting practices.
