Job Description:
Join our Team: Sourcing Engineer
Bothell, WA
The key responsibility of the Sourcing Engineer, in collaboration with Genie's Global Engineering, Operations, and Sourcing teams, is to support the execution of strategic programs across the following project portfolios: New Product Development, Manufacturing Footprint, Engineering Strategic Projects & New Technology Development, and Cost Out. This position is responsible for ensuring the Global Sourcing strategy is integrated into these strategic programs and advocating for design and footprint decisions that enable our ability to build a resilient, flexible, high quality, and cost competitive global supply chain.
What you'll do
  • Support of strategic programs from end-to-end to ensure continued cost and performance optimization, parts availability, meeting performance, cost, and quality metrics.
  • Provide thought leadership and drive strategic initiatives with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support supply chain objectives and strategies.
  • Lead the development of the supply chain strategy for early-stage NPD & other engineering projects with the cross-functional project teams to ensure compliance to project targets while following global sourcing and make/buy strategies.
  • Facilitate the NPD supplier selection process. Verify the appropriate supplier is chosen to ensure all to ensure the commercial, quality, technical, and financial requirements of the program are met.
  • Lead weekly sourcing project reviews, covering plan to actual cost estimation, sourcing progress, and prototype procurement.
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis, including should-cost modelling and make/buy business cases
  • Provide sourcing recommendations, ensuring awards are approved by the global sourcing leadership.
  • Enlist Category Managers to protect commercial and IP interests.
  • Mentor and lead NPD Buyers to execute (RFQ) and selection process and prototype procurement.
  • Develop and execute sourcing engineering process improvement and toolsets.
  • Perform other duties as needed that support the overall objective of the position.

What you'll bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • 4+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in leading cross functional operations programs such as NPD, product line duplication, vertical integration, strategic sourcing, etc.
  • Proven capability operating in a growing, fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated experience solving problems by correctly identifying root cause and implementing sustainable and effective countermeasures.
  • Must be able to work with a minimal technical supervision and supplemental engineering support, while responding efficiently to multiple program priorities.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills focused on continuous improvement of strategy and business process. Knowledge of lean manufacturing waste reduction methods such as: Kanban, jidoka, poka-yoke, heijunka, kaizen.
  • Influence and leadership skills with experience building lasting relationships with functional partners.
  • Generate quality outputs using business tools (Word, Excel modeling, Power Point slides.
  • Proficient in GD&T, able to read and interpret 2D technical drawings and 3D models.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (primarily English).
  • Ability to travel up globally to 25% in a month. Schedule flexibility to participate/lead in project discussions to meet global time requirements (early weekday mornings or evenings).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated track record in basic manufacturing processes associated with mobile equipment supply chain management.
  • Experience in supplier management and procurement.
  • Demonstrated results from cost savings, continuity of supply or quality improvement initiatives via supply category management.
  • Experience analysing and guiding sound business decisions based on research, data, and other inputs
  • Proficient with IT tools and applications including Microsoft Office suite and Project Management software
  • Advanced knowledge of Genie engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and other relevant business processes, products, and services.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-dimensional matrixed organization.

Salary: The salary range for this position is $124,000.00 - $186,000.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to a base salary, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.
