Job description

We are looking for a specialized logistics professional responsible for optimizing fleet utilization by finding revenue-generating freight for trucks to haul on their return trips. This is an in-office position and can be based out of our terminals in Buena Park, Fontana or Phoenix.ย

Hours: Mon-Fri 8am-4:30pm or Mon-Fri 7am-3:30pm (based on candidateโ€™s preference)

Pay: $30-$32/hour DOE

Responsibilities:

  • Identify and secure freight for company trucks to reduce deadhead miles
  • Monitor truck availability and proactively plan reload opportunities based on network position
  • Utilize load boards, broker relationships, and customer networks to source freight
  • Negotiate rates with brokers and customers to ensure profitable reloads
  • Coordinate with dispatch and operations teams to align backhaul plans with driver schedules and HOS constraints
  • Maintain real-time visibility of truck locations and available capacity
  • Build and maintain relationships with brokers, shippers, and third-party logistics providers
  • Ensure all loads meet service requirements, including appointment times and special instructions
  • Track and report KPIs such as deadhead percentage, revenue per mile, and reload time
  • Assist in identifying consistent backhaul lanes and long-term opportunities to improve network balance

Minimum Requirements:

  • 1โ€“3+ years of experience in transportation, logistics, or freight brokerage
  • Must have solid critical thinking/analytical skills.
  • Strong understanding of truckload operations, lane pricing, and market conditions
  • Experience using load boards (DAT, Truckstop) and a TMS.
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and Google Docs.
  • Must demonstrate professional verbal and written negotiation and communication skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task successfully, be a quick problem solver, and demonstrate follow-through skills.
  • Must show initiative, strong attention to detail, and time management skills.
  • Must be adaptable, follow directions, and maintain organized work processes.
  • Possess critical thinking, judgement, listening, and reasoning skills.
  • Regular and satisfactory attendance and punctuality are a must.
