Job description

Salary range: $150,000.00-190,000.00k/yr.

Summary:

The Chief Engineer – Enclosure Systems is responsible for the comprehensive technical and programmatic oversight of all enclosure systems initiatives. This includes scoping, design development, validation, product launch, and sustained support for production programs. The incumbent serves as the primary technical authority, guiding cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives while ensuring alignment with corporate strategies, customer requirements, and regulatory standards. The position requires a blend of deep technical acumen, proactive leadership, and exceptional organizational skills to drive multiple complex projects concurrently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Leadership and Execution

· Direct and oversee the development of sophisticated electro-mechanical enclosure systems supporting gas and diesel generator applications.

· Establish program scope, objectives, deliverables, and resource plans in collaboration with Commercial, Sales, and Program Management teams.

· Manage detailed cost models, estimates, and schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality products.

· Oversee the preparation, approval, and release of all design documentation in accordance with internal processes and applicable standards.

Technical Expertise and Guidance

· Serve as the subject matter expert for all technical aspects of enclosure systems, including design methodologies, material selection, structural integrity, thermal management, and compliance requirements.

· Provide direction to engineering personnel regarding technical problem-solving, risk assessment, and design optimization.

· Support validation testing, troubleshooting, and resolution of field issues as required.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

· Facilitate effective communication and coordination among internal departments, including Sales, Applications Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality.

· Engage with customers, vendors, and strategic partners to ensure design requirements are clearly defined, understood, and implemented.

· Act as the primary technical liaison for customer engagements, program reviews, and new business initiatives.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

· Lead efforts to improve the quality, performance, and cost competitiveness of existing products.

· Drive the adoption of best practices, advanced engineering tools, and continuous improvement methodologies to enhance team capabilities and product outcomes.

· Promote knowledge sharing and the professional development of engineering team members.

Reporting and Resource Management

· Maintain and update the Engineering resource utilization dashboard, providing insights into project staffing, workload trends, and capacity planning.

· Prepare and present status reports, metrics, and recommendations to senior leadership and project stakeholders.

Additional Responsibilities

· Perform other duties as assigned by management to support organizational objectives.

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.

· Demonstrated subject matter expertise in enclosure system design and development, with a proven track record of managing complex product programs.

· Working knowledge of:

o Gas and diesel generator technologies and controls.

o Electrical distribution and control equipment relevant to enclosure applications.

o National and international standards governing product safety, performance, and compliance.

o Document release processes and product validation requirements.

· Strong ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively across multiple functions and to external stakeholders.

· Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as necessary to support project and customer requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

· Experience reviewing and interpreting analytical data to develop actionable recommendations.

· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and lead geographically distributed teams.

· Proven track record of fostering positive customer relationships and managing complex supplier engagements.

· High standards of professional ethics and integrity, with a strong commitment to confidentiality and intellectual property protection.

· Superior written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of technical reports and presentations.
