Overview

As a Project Engineer at LJA Land Development, you will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and coordinating civil engineering projects ranging from small to large-scale developments. You will serve as a key technical contributor, applying sound engineering judgment and managing multiple project phases. This position provides an opportunity to work collaboratively with experienced engineers and project managers while supporting LJA’s commitment to high-quality, client-focused design solutions.

A Typical Day Might Include
  • Conceptualizing the initial design approach for a major phase of a large project, or taking overall responsibility for the engineering work on a project of limited scope.
  • Planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating engineering work involving conventional engineering practices and addressing complex design requirements.
  • Supporting Project Managers by serving as an Assistant Project Manager or Assistant Project Engineer as needed.
  • Supervising less experienced engineers or technical support personnel on an assignment basis.
  • Exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting, adapting, and modifying standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Determining additional information needed from internal clients and coordinating directly with them.
  • Making basic decisions regarding alternative procedures when information is incomplete or ambiguous.
  • Collaborating across departments to ensure deliverables meet client expectations and company standards.
Required Education / Licenses / Certifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required.
  • Registration as a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or application submitted and awaiting registration.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of post-graduate civil engineering experience.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and clients.
Ideally, You Should Also Have
  • Experience supporting both design and project management phases of land development projects.
  • Proven ability to adapt standard engineering techniques to complex project challenges.
