Who We Are
Lad Lake is a COA-accredited, nonprofit organization serving youth and families across Wisconsin. Each year, more than 1,200 young people and their families benefit from our trauma-informed programs designed to help them heal, grow, and thrive.
Our mission is to help young people and their families reach their fullest potential. Every day, our dedicated team provides hope, healing, and opportunities for youth who have experienced significant challenges. We believe that every young person deserves compassionate care, meaningful relationships, and the support they need to build a brighter future.
We're looking for an experienced, compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. You'll provide nursing care and coordinate health services for youth across our residential campuses in Milwaukee and Dousman. This role combines direct nursing care with medication management, care coordination, staff education, and regulatory compliance to ensure our youth receive exceptional, trauma-informed healthcare.
If you're passionate about making a lasting impact while working alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team, we'd love to meet you.
What You'll Do
As our Registered Nurse, you'll play an essential role in supporting the physical and behavioral health needs of youth in our care across two campuses (Milwaukee and Dousman).
Provide Exceptional Nursing Care
  • Assess and respond to residents' medical needs using sound clinical judgment and trauma-informed practices.
  • Complete nursing assessments, health screenings, vision screenings, medication reconciliation, and admission processes for new residents.
  • Coordinate off-site medical appointments, specialty referrals, laboratory testing, diagnostic services, and follow-up care.
  • Monitor residents receiving prescribed medications for effectiveness, side effects, and adverse reactions while collaborating with healthcare providers.
  • Review health-related incidents, injuries, restraints, and medication events to ensure appropriate nursing follow-up.
  • Prepare discharge health summaries and coordinate medications, prescriptions, and immunization records for successful transitions.
Coordinate Medication Management

  • Maintain accurate Medication Administration Records (MARs) and resident medication records.
  • Verify medication changes at admission, transfer, discharge, and after provider orders.
  • Conduct routine medication audits, storage inspections, controlled substance reconciliation, and medication error follow-up.
  • Help ensure safe medication administration practices and regulatory compliance.
Collaborate Across the Care Team
  • Work closely with our Nurse Practitioner, psychiatrists, therapists, direct care staff, guardians, pharmacies, and community healthcare providers.
  • Obtain informed consent for psychotropic medications in accordance with licensing requirements.
  • Communicate provider orders, medication changes, and treatment recommendations to all appropriate team members.
  • Maintain complete and accurate medical, psychiatric, and immunization records to support continuity of care.
Support Quality & Staff Development
  • Assist with quality assurance activities, documentation reviews, medication audits, and licensing readiness.
  • Provide nursing consultation and support to staff regarding resident health concerns, medications, and emergency situations.
  • Train staff in medication administration, infection prevention, emergency response, Narcan administration, and other health-related topics.
  • Serve as a CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor, CBRF Trainer, and DHS PREP Facilitator (or obtain certification after hire).
  • Coordinate annual flu clinics and other wellness initiatives for residents and staff.
  • Travel between Lad Lake campuses to ensure continuity of nursing services and clinical support.
