Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION: Roofing Estimator- Florida Region


Summary of Responsibilities 

Roofing Estimators are responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that we know everything required to successfully bid and win the project.

Roofing Estimators also work with the Sales Management teams to follow-up on bids and budgets to close new business.  Follows all company SOP’s.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Bid Administration
    • Prepares and maintains status of plan reproduction with the help of estimating coordinators
    • Solicits and maintains communication with subcontractors and vendors
    • Prepares subcontractor bid packages with the help of estimating coordinators
    • Stays properly informed of addenda related to the project
    • Submits 100% of bids and budgets by the bid deadline
    • Enters all relevant information into the EDGE
    • Uses DF Template for proposals to ensure uniformity across the company
  • Project Knowledge
    • Review bid requirements thoroughly
    • Has a thorough understanding of the required scope
    • Develops RFI's and clarifications
    • Performs a comprehensive estimate
    • Include value-engineering ideas if applicable
  • Follow up & closing
    • Consistently follows up on submitted roof bids and budgets and provides update correspondence utilizing DF
  • Project turnover
    • Properly turns over bid documents and sub buyout information to Project Management in per the Handoff SOP
    • Review drawings with Project Management team and highlight areas of concern
    • Review job cost with Project Management team
    • Complete project handoff form to ensure compliance
  • Subcontractor award
    • Thoroughly checks requirements to buy the proper roof scope
    • Awards subcontracts before the time of the hand-off meeting
    • Provide subs with as much information as possible
