Job description

Job Summary The Child Mental Health Social Worker supports children diagnosed with severe emotional disturbances, and their families, by providing case management to children and families that need help accessing and utilizing mental health services. The Social Worker assesses current level of mental health functioning across settings and makes referrals for services to promote stability and improve the child's quality of life and the overall functioning of the family system. Examples of Duties Provides on-going case management and assessment to monitor the child's mental health treatment plan and track goal completion.

Collaborates and communicates with service providers, clients, and other involved parties such as school personnel, therapists, psychiatrists, county attorneys, judges, guardians, foster parents, law enforcement, probation officers, treatment facilities, financial workers, and other community resources. Completes and maintains required documentation for casework. Documentation includes but is not limited to SSIS, service arrangements functional assessments, dictation, and referral forms.

Coordinates client transportation to appointments as needed and attends client meetings that are located in and out of the County. Attend training sessions and staff/community meetings. Provides orientation of new staff and support interns.

Performs initial assessment and referral for child and family. Reviews diagnostic evaluations and medical records, interviews child and family, assesses the child's mental health needs in the home, community and school settings, and refers client to appropriate community resources. Provides crisis interventions and responds to crisis situations involving clients in their home, school, and community.

Perform other duties as necessary. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related human services field, and two years' supervised experience working with children with emotional disturbances and their families, or equivalent. A valid Driver's license is required upon hire.

Annual certification and/or training is required in Data Security and Privacy and Data Security for County Staff. PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Social Work and experience as a county Social Worker in the area of Children's Mental Health. Bilingual (English/Spanish and/or English/Somali).

Two years' experience working with children diagnosed with SEDs - Severe Emotional Disturbances. Supplemental Information HIRING RANGE / UNION: $36.01 - $50.41 per hour / SS Unit - Grade 12 HOURS: Business Hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Full-time hours equal 40 hours per week
