What is a solutions engineer customer?

Solutions Engineer Customer roles involve working closely with clients to understand their business needs and technical requirements, then designing and proposing tailored solutions using a company's products or services. These professionals act as a bridge between the sales team and the technical team, ensuring that customer requirements are met both before and after the sale. They often present product demonstrations, answer technical questions, and may assist with implementations or troubleshooting. Strong communication, problem-solving, and technical skills are essential for success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a solutions engineer customer?

To thrive as a Solutions Engineer Customer, you need a strong understanding of technical systems, problem-solving abilities, and a background in computer science or engineering. Familiarity with CRM platforms, API integrations, and cloud solutions, as well as certifications like AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Salesforce Certified, are typically valuable. Exceptional communication, presentation, and customer relationship skills help you effectively translate complex technical concepts for clients. These abilities are crucial for aligning technical solutions with customer needs and driving successful implementations.

How does a solutions engineer customer typically collaborate with both clients and internal teams during the implementation process?

As a Solutions Engineer Customer, you act as a vital bridge between the client and your company's technical and sales teams. You'll work closely with clients to understand their specific needs, then coordinate with product managers, developers, and sales representatives to design and implement tailored solutions. Regular communication and collaborative problem-solving are key, as you'll often translate client feedback into actionable insights for your internal teams. This cross-functional role requires balancing technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills, making it both challenging and rewarding for those who enjoy dynamic environments.

Job description

About Kai Cyber, Inc
Kai is the AI company rebuilding cybersecurity for the machine-speed era. Founded by second-time founders and trusted by Fortune 500 enterprises, Kai is building a future where security has no categories, no silos, and no human speed bottlenecks. The Kai Agentic AI Platform replaces fragmented, human-limited workflows with agentic AI systems that continuously contextualize, assess, reason, and execute security work at machine speed -making human defenders, superhuman.
Why Kai
  • Well-funded: With $125M raised, we have the capital, runway, and resolve to rebuild cybersecurity from first principles.
  • Proven: We've earned the trust of Fortune 500 and Global 1000 companies, and we're just getting started. Their confidence in Kai reflects what we've built: an AI-powered cybersecurity platform that performs at the scale and speed the enterprise demands.
  • Experienced founders: Our founding team consists of second-time entrepreneurs, each with over 20 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry. Their proven expertise and vision drive our ambitious goals.
  • Frontier AI Applied Research Team: Our researchers operate at the leading edge of agentic AI systems, translating breakthrough capabilities into real-world cybersecurity applications.
  • Generous compensation: We offer highly competitive salaries, equity options, and a supportive work environment. Your contributions will be valued and rewarded as we grow together.

THE ROLE
Kai is hiring a Senior Solutions Engineer to cover the Ohio Valley region. This is a fully remote, field-based role.
You will own the technical sales motion in your territory - from first call through POV close - partnering directly with your regional Account Executive to bring Kai's platform to the largest enterprises in the Ohio Valley market. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You are the technical authority in every room, and your ability to connect deep security expertise to measurable business outcomes will determine what closes and what doesn't.
We are building the SE function as we grow. The person who joins now will have direct influence on how that function operates - not just how it executes.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Own the full pre-sales technical motion for enterprise opportunities in the Ohio Valley region, partnering closely with your Account Executive from first call through signed agreement
  • Design and run structured, outcome-driven POVs - scoped tightly, executed cleanly, measured against customer-defined business outcomes
  • Lead deep technical discovery to understand each customer's environment, threat model, and existing security stack before you ever open a demo
  • Deliver compelling presentations and demonstrations to technical and executive audiences - security architects, SOC leadership, and CISOs - translating platform capabilities into business outcomes
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with security teams at Global 2000 and Fortune 500 accounts
  • Represent Kai at industry events, security conferences, and customer briefings across the Ohio Valley region
  • Bring field intelligence back to Product and Engineering - you are the voice of the customer inside the company

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Required:
  • 7+ years of Enterprise Security experience in a solutions engineering, systems engineering, or pre-sales role
  • Broad enterprise security knowledge - you understand the security landscape, can speak credibly across domains, and know how to map a platform to a customer's real problems
  • Proven track record running structured, outcome-driven POVs with Global 2000 or Fortune 500 accounts
  • Experience selling into accounts with 20,000+ employees
  • Strong discovery skills - you ask the right questions before you ever open a demo
  • Ability to connect technical outcomes to business value
  • Deep, long-tenured experience covering the Ohio Valley region, with established relationships within your territory
  • Startup experience bringing brand new category-defining technology into the market
  • Experience at a security platform company - you've sold a connected system, not a point solution
  • Willingness to travel 50%+ across the Ohio Valley region

Preferred:
  • Background in detection and response, vulnerability management, exposure management, application security, security operations, or asset intelligence
  • Experience working within a formal enterprise sales methodology - MEDDICC/MEDDPICC, Force Management, Challenger, or similar
  • Familiarity with AI/ML security concepts or AI-native platforms
  • Prior involvement in building or refining a POV framework or SE playbook
