Description:

Westwood Professional Services, Inc.

The Architecture Intern will join a design team supporting the design of residential, commercial, and mixed-use buildings within land development projects. Projects range from single building designs to multi-building site programs for private developers, homebuilders, and commercial clients. This position offers a direct opportunity to apply architecture coursework to real-world building design projects.

Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of architectural design drawings, renderings, and 3D models for residential and commercial building projects.
  • Support development of construction documents, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and details, under the guidance of licensed Architects.
  • Research applicable building codes, zoning requirements, and accessibility standards affecting building design.
  • Assist in preparing design submittals for architectural review boards, planning commissions, and permitting agencies.
  • Coordinate with civil engineers, landscape architects, and structural engineers to integrate building design with overall site plans.
  • Attend site visits to document existing conditions and observe construction progress on active projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a NAAB-accredited undergraduate Architecture program.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, management, and design team members.
  • Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary work environment.
  • Willingness to attend site visits and perform work in outdoor field conditions on occasion.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:

The following qualifications are preferred but not required for consideration:

  • Relevant industry experience through coursework or prior internships in architecture or building design.
