Job description

As a Solution Train Engineer (STE) who will support the Agile Release Trains (ART) in delivering value and supporting the capabilities developer's ability to operationalize evolving needs across several environments.
The Solution Train Engineer (STE) will be a member of the Agile Team. The STE will serve as an Agile Coach who brings facilitation, collaboration, and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) expertise to facilitate Agile events and processes and help teams deliver value. The STE communicates with stakeholders (Process Governance, Product Manager/Product Owner, Functional Support teams, and development teams), escalates impediments, helps manage risk and schedules, and drives improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Program Increment (PI) Planning readiness by facilitating the preparation of Vision and Backlogs and through Pre- and Post-PI Planning activities.
  • Collaborate with the ARTs, maintaining release schedules with current testing and deployment/release information, and present information to government customers as necessary.
  • Work closely with stakeholders across contractor and government teams
  • Support the development of Epic Review packages and assist them through coordination.
  • Manage the flow of value through Solution Planning Cycle using various Digital tools
  • Help track the delivery of features and capabilities to ART stakeholders/end-users
  • Facilitate periodic synchronization meetings, including the Product Line sync
  • Facilitate feature and capability estimation by teams and the roll-up to Epics, where necessary
  • Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum Masters in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets
  • Provide input on resourcing to address critical bottlenecks
  • Encourage collaboration between teams and System and Solution Architects/Engineers
  • Drive relentless improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops; assess the agility level of the Solution Train
  • Elevate impediments impacting teams to ART leadership to ensure they are addressed/resolved before they negatively impact planned execution.
  • Provide Administrative support of Jira and Confluence.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Must have experience in the following areas:

  • Minimum five years of experience working in an Agile environment serving as a Release Train Engineer or equivalent role (e.g., Agile Project Manager or Scrum master)
  • Experience planning, managing, and organizing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Knowledge of risk and dependency management
  • Strong organization, facilitation skills, and interpersonal skills
  • Independent Thinking with a thirst for continual improvement.
