As the Software Technical Lead, you will serve as the technical authority for software development activities across the IMIS portfolio. You will provide strategic technical leadership, drive software architecture decisions, mentor engineering teams, and ensure delivery of secure, reliable, and maintainable software solutions supporting one of the world's most advanced fighter aircraft platforms.
In this role, you will lead multidisciplinary software engineering teams through the full software development lifecycle, ensuring technical excellence, compliance with engineering and software security standards, and successful program execution.
Key responsibilities include:

• Lead integration efforts involving software, hardware interfaces, databases, and external systems.
• Drive root-cause analysis and resolution of complex technical issues affecting system performance, reliability, and maintainability.
• Support software deployment, configuration management, and lifecycle sustainment activities.
UI/UX Design & Human Factors
• Guide the design and development of intuitive, efficient, and user-centered interfaces supporting aircraft maintenance operations.
• Apply UI/UX best practices, usability principles, and human-centered design methodologies to improve operator effectiveness and productivity.
• Collaborate with end users, stakeholders, and system engineers to refine workflows and optimize user experiences.
• Ensure consistency in application design, accessibility, responsiveness, and user interaction patterns across the product suite.
Agile Leadership & Software Engineering Excellence
• Lead Agile development teams utilizing Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid Agile methodologies.
• Collaborate with the IMIS Portfolio Integrator and the IMIS Release Train Engineer (RTE) to drive sprint planning, backlog refinement, technical estimation, and release planning activities.
• Champion DevSecOps practices, continuous integration, automated testing, and continuous delivery pipelines.
• Establish metrics and processes that improve software quality, development velocity, and predictability.
Technical Documentation & Compliance
• Development and review of software architecture documents, software design descriptions, interface control documents, technical specifications, and engineering artifacts.
• Ensure traceability between requirements, design, implementation, and verification activities.
• Ensure compliance with organizational, customer, cybersecurity, and quality standards.
Mentorship & Team Development
• Mentor and develop software engineers across all experience levels.
• Conduct technical reviews, code inspections, and design assessments.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Serve as the technical bridge between engineering teams, the IMIS Portfolio Integrator, and program leadership.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including experience leading software development teams or serving as a technical lead.
• Strong development experience in C++, Java, JavaScript, SQL, C#, Qt, and shell scripting.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs, web services, and distributed software systems.
• Experience with application containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes and container orchestration concepts.

• Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles, software design patterns, and modern engineering practices.
• Experience with Agile software development methodologies and DevSecOps practices.
• Experience authoring software design documentation, technical specifications, and architecture artifacts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance.
Desired skills
• Experience supporting aerospace, defense, military, or mission-critical operational systems.
• Experience with aircraft maintenance, logistics, sustainment, or ground support systems.
• Expertise in Qt-based application development and UI modernization initiatives.
• Knowledge of human factors engineering, usability testing, and UI/UX design methodologies.
