The BMC Software Sales Engineer provides technical and IT process-related consultancy to accounts that require mainframe industry knowledge as well as BMC product knowledge. Candidate must have advanced level verbal and written communication skills.
Primary responsibilities for role:
• Provide technical expertise throughout the sales cycle, assisting in articulating the customer challenge as it relates to the BMC product-set.
• Actively participates in sales calls. During the call, the Sales Engineer handles all technical questions and explanations. Also is responsible for explaining the technical capabilities of BMC's products vis-à-vis competition.
• Collects business and technical information from clients regarding requirements. Determines whether BMC solutions can technically satisfy these requirements. Confers with the sales representative, technical and sales management on these observations.
• Focuses on sales opportunities requiring solutions in heterogeneous environments. Works with the sales representative with little supervision to define sales and technical strategies in dealing with the customer. Communicates his/her perception of the success of the strategy.
• Delivers and customizes technical presentations on BMC solutions. Builds new presentations for use by sales and other Solution Engineers. Explains solution capabilities, limitations, and implementation.
• Designs and builds customized demonstrations of BMC solutions for prospective customers. Presents and delivers these demonstrations to clients. Assists other Solution Engineers in developing demonstrations.
• Support the clients throughout the POC (Proof of Concepts) while keeping the sales team informed of the POC status. Identifies and resolves technical and business problems with the POC.
• Researches, composes, and delivers responses to RFPs. Interacts with clients to clarify requirements. Reviews RFP responses for technical accuracy.
• Provides demonstrations and presentations for BMC Seminars and Tradeshows. Performs necessary equipment set-up and installation.
• Help our customers leverage their world-class technology and partnership with BMC so that they realize the full value of their investments.
• Be responsible for driving customer adoption and success by providing governance advice, usage/adoption recommendations, risk identification and mitigation.
• Must be able to gain credibility/mindshare with key technical shareholders at the client across the BMC mainframe stack.
To ensure you're set up for success, you will bring the following skillset and experience:

• 5+ years experience in a presales capacity, or relatable technical role
• Proven ability to develop a broad awareness of the client's technical architecture and emerging technologies with enough knowledge to determine what is and is not possible
• Subject matter expertise on the technology and business use of one or more z/OS solutions
• Demonstrated artistry with creating and delivering compelling demonstrations
• Drawing from your previous experiences, you are a subject matter expert on z/OS solutions.

At BMC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at /near the top of the range. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $102,150 - $170,250
