Title: Programming Analyst (Natural Adabas)
Location: Jackson, MS
Duration: 4 years

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Programming Analyst to support the development and maintenance of enterprise applications for a state government agency.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Natural/Adabas, SQL development, and Human Services systems.
This role involves designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining complex multi-tier applications while collaborating with business stakeholders to deliver effective technology solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise applications using Natural/Adabas technologies.
  • Analyze business requirements and develop technical solutions that align with organizational objectives.
  • Develop and maintain databases and application components using Natural, Adabas, and SQL.
  • Collaborate with business users and stakeholders to gather, analyze, and refine application requirements.
  • Design, implement, test, and deploy enhancements for complex multi-tier systems.
  • Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Perform application troubleshooting, debugging, issue resolution, and performance optimization.
  • Develop and execute quality assurance testing to ensure application reliability and functionality.
  • Maintain technical documentation, system specifications, and development standards.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide production support and resolve critical application issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve processes, system functionality, and application performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to technical process refinement.
  • Work in a collaborative environment while supporting Agile or Lean development methodologies when applicable.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 10+ years of experience developing applications using Natural/Adabas and SQL.
  • Experience working with SCL in Linux environments.
  • Advanced experience designing, implementing, and enhancing large-scale applications using Natural.
  • Strong proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to gather and define business requirements.
  • Ability to define technical direction, resolve complex issues, and improve development processes.
  • Strong understanding and experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • 7+ years of experience supporting State Department of Human Services systems.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call support rotation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Working knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Experience working in Agile environments, including SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, XP, or similar methodologies.
  • Experience supporting large-scale government or public sector applications.
  • Familiarity with enterprise application modernization and process improvement initiatives.
