Job description

The team is seeking a Cloud Computing Application Architect who can design, implement, and guide secure, scalable, modern cloud solutions that support Public Health data modernization initiatives. The resource will apply cloud architecture expertise to create environments that leverage current cloud capabilities while aligning with engineering standards, security requirements, and modernization objectives. This role requires deep hands‐on technical experience, leadership in cloud design decision‐making, and the ability to work with cross‐functional teams including engineers, product teams, and modernization stakeholders to deliver mission‐aligned, cloud‐based systems. The architect will also contribute to cloud automation, governance, and continuous improvement efforts that advance national Public Health outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, modern cloud architectures supporting Public Health data modernization.
  • Assess current environments and recommend tools, architectures, and solutions across on‐premise, cloud, and hybrid models.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and data modernization stakeholders to guide architectural strategy, design standards, and technical execution.
  • Deploy and troubleshoot solutions within AWS and hybrid cloud environments, ensuring adherence to cloud governance, engineering best practices, and security protocols.
  • Utilize Gen‐AI tools to support development workflows, improve solution quality, and enhance technical team productivity.
  • Broaden cloud delivery capabilities through automation, DevOps practices, and cloud‐native security while mentoring team members and supporting complex cloud initiatives.

Must Haves:

  • 5+ years of experience designing, configuring, and administering enterprise applications in cloud environments
  • 5+ years of experience developing with .NET, Entity Framework, and SQL
  • Experience architecting and deploying solutions in AWS and hybrid cloud environments
  • Experience developing secure, cloud‐based architectures and adhering to engineering and cloud governance standards
  • Experience with Gen‐AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude Code
  • Experience deploying and troubleshooting IaaS environments and Linux or Unix systems, including shell scripting
  • Knowledge of CI/CD and automation tools such as GitHub Actions
  • Ability to lead technical teams
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination
  • HS diploma or GED

  • Experience optimizing cloud cost management and implementing governance frameworks
