Job Summary:

We are seeking a Mechanical Drafter to support the design and documentation of medium voltage switchgear, E-House systems, and related power distribution equipment. This role works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and project teams to develop detailed fabrication and assembly drawings for engineered-to-order products.


The Mechanical Drafter will support both new product designs and ongoing production updates, including incorporation of manufacturing redlines and engineering revisions. Projects may include medium voltage switchgear assemblies, bus systems, structural supports, equipment mounting arrangements, skid systems, and modular E-House structures ranging from simple walk-in enclosures to larger data center power modules.The ideal candidate has 2-4+ years of drafting experience in industrial or manufacturing environments and is proficient with SolidWorks.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings using SolidWorks
  • Produce engineering documentation including:
    • General arrangement drawings
    • Switchgear assembly layouts
    • Structural support drawings
    • Bus and compartment layouts
    • Equipment mounting details
    • Skid and base assembly drawings
    • E-House structural and mechanical layouts
    • Sheet metal and welded assembly details
    • Bill of materials (BOMs)
  • Support development and modification of medium voltage switchgear designs, modular power enclosures, and related assemblies
  • Incorporate engineering updates, manufacturing redlines, and production feedback into released drawings
  • Coordinate with engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are accurate and manufacturable
  • Assist with drawing revisions and document updates within the PLM system
  • Support standardization of drafting practices, templates, and reusable design components
  • Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company drafting standards

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
  • Minimum 2-4 years of drafting or mechanical design experience in industrial, manufacturing, or power distribution environments
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, 2D and 3D drafting practices, and BOM creation and revision management
  • Ability to interpret engineering specifications and fabrication requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced engineered-to-order manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Medium voltage switchgear, Power distribution equipment, E-House or modular enclosure systems, Welded and sheet metal assemblies, Structural steel or equipment skid design
  • Familiarity with manufacturing floor support and engineering redline processes
  • Exposure to PLM or document control systems
  • Understanding of industrial fabrication and assembly methods
