Job Description & Responsibilities

Persistent Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, Integration to join our team and be based in our Fort Collins, CO office. As a Systems Engineer supporting our Air Force Communication System Programs, you will be a critical member of the Persistent Program Team.You will create,ย modify, andย maintainย system-level mechanical drawings and assemblies using SolidWorks.ย You will support andย facilitateย system integration ofย Persistent Systems'ย products, test planning and execution, report generation and delivery, and responses to RFIs and RFPs. You will play a pivotal role in communicating technical challenges and new requirements to our engineering department as you strive to solve problems. This role requires excellent communication skills as you willย be requiredย to work across the entire Persistent Systems team including Sales, Field Operations, Programs Management, Engineering, and Quality to provide customer solutions.ย 

Position Responsibilities

  • Maintain an expert knowledge of Persistent Systems productstoย build customer relationships through interpreting and developing their requirementsย 
  • Create,ย modify, andย maintainย system-level mechanical drawings and assemblies using SolidWorks.ย 
  • Develop system layouts, interface drawings, installation drawings, and other engineering drawings asย required.ย 
  • Create,ย maintain, and updateย Interface Control Documents (ICDs)ย defining mechanical, electrical, physical, functional, and/or system interfaces.ย 
  • Coordinate with engineering disciplines and external/internal stakeholders toย identify, define, and resolve system interface requirements.ย 
  • Prepare, update, review, andย maintainย Government CDRLsย and other contractually required engineering documentation.ย 
  • Support the development and maintenance of system specifications, requirements documentation, technical reports, design documentation, and engineering analyses.ย 
  • Assistย with system architecture, functional decomposition, requirements allocation, and technical baseline development.ย 
  • Integrate Persistent Systems products to meet complex system requirementsย 
  • Develop and carry out test procedures thatย determineย that the outcome of the integration has met the requirementsย 
  • Convey system integration progress to the management team, and escalate issues and concerns expedientlyย 
  • Identifyingย short-term and long-term customer issues; provide information and data pertinent to deliberations, and recommending options and courses of actionย 
  • Conduct Root Cause analysis to troubleshoot customers' integrated system issues and collaborate with the product development and test engineers to resolve technical issues.ย 
  • Developing test plans, methodologies followed by final reports and summaries for both internal developers and external customersย 
  • Defining integration strategies and methods and then planning themย in accordance withย established deadlines and time schedulesย 
  • Creating and providing technical documentation that explains upcoming or existing integrations to non-technical individualsย 
  • Developing technical portions of responses to RFI / RFP and other similar customer requirementsย 
Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering discipline.ย 
  • 4years of experience with SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or equivalent 3D modeling programsย 
  • Experience creating and interpreting engineering drawings, assemblies, and technical documentation.ย 
  • Ability to develop andย maintainย technical documentation such asย ICDs, specifications, interface drawings, and engineering reports.ย 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.ย 
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple engineering deliverables and priorities.ย 
  • Experience with RF communications and/or network system integrationย 
  • Proficiencyย in data collection and analysisย 
  • Proficiencyย in technical concepts such as wireless, mobile IP, RF propagation with an understanding of hardware and software conceptsย 
  • Understanding of product development and systems architecture designย 
  • Experience working directly with customers and end usersย 
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, written and verbalย 
  • Must be available to travel up to 25% of the timeย 
  • Ability to obtain a Secret US Security Clearanceย 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineeringย 
  • Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.100-200 Engineering Drawing Practicesย 
  • Experience working on U.S. Government or Department of Defense programs.ย 
  • Experience preparing orย maintainingย Government CDRLs.ย 
  • Familiarity with MIL-STDย andย other government engineering standards and requirements.ย 
  • Experience developing andย maintainingย Interface Control Documents (ICDs).ย 
  • Net+ย orย Sec+ย certificationsย 
  • Experience with RF mapping and planning tools such as Cloud RFย 
  • Experience with wireless concepts such as MANET, Mesh, Ad-hoc, protocols and web architecture, with an understanding of hardware and software conceptsย 
  • Proficiencyย in advanced technical software packages such as Wireshark and/or MATLABย 
  • Possess an active Secret US Security Clearanceย 

The pay for this role can vary from $117,000 to $146,000 a year based on the selected individual's education and experience.
