Job description

Synthio stands at the vanguard of companies taking novel production techniques from universities and moving them to the production floor. We need talented, motivated and forward-thinking mechanical engineers to help make it happen.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and apply thermal-hydraulic models for new production processes
  • Create PFDs, P&IDs, automation wiring diagrams, and bills of materials
  • Select hardware for process equipment including pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, valves, etc.
  • Use 3D solid modeling software (Solidworks) to create ad document equipment design
  • Create detailed manufacturing drawings of custom hardware
  • Select and qualify vendors and machine shops for custom equipment
  • Test prototype/pilot/production hardware and analyze results
  • Manage and maintain process design documentation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering team
  • Lead team of junior and mid-level mechanical engineers

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar (Aerospace, Industrial, etc.) with strong academic performance +5 years industry experience
  • Strong fundamental skills in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, design, controls
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D modeling and drawing creation
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and must be able to pass a background check
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Hands-on experience in a process development and/or production environment is highly desired
  • Familiarity with design documentation standards for P&IDs
  • Familiarity with chemical process safety including hazard identification and risk assessment desired
  • Prior experience with instrumentation and automation is a plus

Salary: $90,000 - $115,000 Annual
