Job description

Position Summary: We are looking for a highly capable Electrical/Mechanical Designer who operates at the intersection of design execution, data integrity, and engineering productivity.
This role owns both design output and the systems that enable it. You will create electrical and mechanical designs, manage the SolidWorks PDM environment, and continuously improve how engineering work gets done. This includes leveraging automation, scripting, and emerging AI tools to increase design velocity, reduce errors, and scale engineering effectiveness.
This is not a drafting role. We are looking for someone who builds, improves, and takes ownership.
COMPENSATION RANGE: $92,000 - $120,000 annually.
Core Responsibilities:
Design & Engineering Execution:
  • Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical designs using SolidWorks, AutoCAD, OrCAD, and related tools
  • Create 3D models, assemblies, and production-ready 2D drawings
  • Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) and complete engineering documentation packages
  • Ensure designs meet technical requirements, manufacturability constraints, and applicable standards
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams
  • Support prototype builds, validation, and design iteration
  • Own design changes and maintain revision history

SolidWorks PDM Ownership:
  • Administer SolidWorks PDM environment (vault structure, workflows, permissions)
  • Maintain data integrity and revision control
  • Develop and enforce standards and templates
  • Provide user training and support
  • Drive system upgrades and performance improvements
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external requirements

Engineering Productivity, Automation & AI:
  • Identify inefficiencies and implement workflow improvements
  • Develop scripts/tools (Python, VBA, APIs) to automate tasks
  • Leverage AI tools to improve design and documentation
  • Enable integration between PDM and enterprise systems
  • Support data-driven and model-based engineering practices

Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of design experience
  • 2+ years of SolidWorks PDM administration
  • Currently hold an active secret clearance or possess the ability to obtain a secret clearance

Technical Skills:
  • Strong SolidWorks proficiency
  • SolidWorks PDM administration experience
  • AutoCAD proficiency
  • Experience with OrCAD or similar
  • Understanding of DFM and manufacturing processes
  • Revision control experience
  • Programming/scripting (Python, VBA, or similar)
  • Familiarity with APIs and data workflows
  • Exposure to AI tools in engineering
