Job description

Summary of Job The City of Beloit has an exciting employment opportunity available and is now accepting applications for the position of Solid Waste Collector. This position works in the Operations Division of the Public Works Department. This role is primarily responsible for solid waste collection, transportation, and disposal.

Solid Waste includes garbage, bulk, white goods, recyclables, and yard waste. This position involves the operation of an automated collection truck, rear loader, and tractor trailer. Collectors work on a rotational basis with garbage, recyclable, rear loader, yard waste, cart maintenance and other departmental operations.

The standard schedule for this role is Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Please note that a brief four-hour Saturday shift is required roughly four times per year

Schedule is subject to change based on business needs. Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 1. High School Diploma or equivalent 2.

A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record 3. Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) 4. A minimum of one (1) year of responsible work experience, with experience in the operation of heavy trucks, recycling or solid waste trucks or other heavy equipment 5.

Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered. Equal opportunity employer
