Job description

Job Posting Information Solid Waste Management is seeking a Utility Equipment Operator III to help keep our operations running safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental standards. In this role, you'll operate heavy construction equipment like track-type bulldozer/loaders, waste compactors, motor graders and related heavy construction equipment at the public landfill.

What You'll Do Operate heavy equipment to safely manage, distribute, and compact solid waste Build and maintain haul roads, access roads, and tipping areas for safe, all-weather use Cover and maintain waste areas daily using soil or approved alternative materials Construct and manage berms, ditches, and drainage systems to control stormwater Perform grading to prevent standing water and maintain proper site conditions Conduct daily equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs Follow all site plans, safety protocols, and environmental regulations Inspect loads when needed and identify prohibited or hazardous materials Support safe traffic flow and assist customers during waste unloading when appropriate Protect landfill systems (liner, gas collection, etc.) and report any damage immediately Hours: Four 10-hour days. Work hours scheduled between 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.; work scheduled will require a minimum of four (4) days a week; work on weekends and holidays may be part of regular schedule

Minimum Qualifications Graduation from high school or equivalent Two years of experience as a Utility Equipment Operator II in the operation of heavy-duty equipment Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the desirable knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered. Necessary Special Requirements A valid driver's license when operating a motor vehicle is necessary to the satisfactory performance of assigned duties
