Job description

Job Title: Database Engineer (Oracle)
Location: Tampa, FL
Security Clearance: Secret


Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Database Engineer with strong PL/SQL expertise to design, develop, and support Oracle database solutions in both Linux/Unix and Windows environments. This role will focus heavily on building and optimizing PL/SQL code to support large-scale applications, while also maintaining database performance, security compliance, and integration workflows. The ideal candidate will have experience across enterprise environments and be comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced setting.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop complex PL/SQL packages, procedures, and functions for large-scale custom program applications.
  • Maintain data integration workflows using bash/shell and PowerShell scripting.
  • Design, configure, optimize, and administer Oracle Databases on Windows.
  • Administer Microsoft Windows Server operating systems, ensuring compatibility with database management systems and applications.
  • Parse and transform structured and unstructured inputs (XML, JSON, JSON-D, EBTS) for ingestion and analytics.
  • Perform advanced SQL and PL/SQL performance tuning, data modeling, and leverage cloud-based services for efficient data management.
  • Ensure STIG compliance and continuous security hardening across all hosts; enforce NIST 800-53 and RMF-aligned controls for encryption, auditing, and access.
  • Provide direct database and integration support to website and API engineering teams.
  • Support Azure database deployments (Oracle on Azure VMs), including patching, backup, and automation.
  • Collaborate on solution design with project managers and technical teams.
  • Author and maintain detailed database design documentation, migration plans, and sustainment procedures to support accreditation and audit readiness.


Minimum Requirements

  • Hands-on experience supporting Oracle databases, with working knowledge of Microsoft SQL and other database environments.
  • Strong experience developing and maintaining database solutions, with an emphasis on PL/SQL development.
  • Familiarity with Linux, Windows, and Solaris operating systems.

Required Skills

  • Advanced PL/SQL expertise (HIGH PRIORITY) – including dynamic SQL, parallel processing, and performance optimization.
  • Database design and modeling (logical and physical).
  • Performance tuning (table partitioning, indexing, and process threading).
  • Experience with scripting languages (bash/shell, PowerShell).
  • Strong understanding of database security, compliance, and hardening practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
