Job description

As a Sr. Linux/Solaris Server Engineer, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, technical operations, and security of our systems and applications. In this role you will:
Provide leadership, guidance, administration, and implementation expertise in OS best practices including managing highly available Linux/Solaris servers (web, application, database and RAC clusters), writing administration policies, performing OS lockdowns, performing system, and application audits, etc.
Configuring/administering primarily Linux and SUN servers.
Internet Technologies and protocols such as DNS, Mail, HTTP,
• We're looking for a very strong Linux/Solaris systems administrator having at least 5 years with Linux and Solaris systems.
• Experience with automated installs e.g. kickstart, jumpstart
• Experience in handling upgrades, change control, file security, user rights, resource utilization and capacity.
• Experience in the production environment.
• Experience with ipTables and Linux firewall servers.
• Experience with backup tools like Veritas Netbackup. Volume Manager and file system.
• Experience in installing and configuring MySQL database servers.
• Experience with scripting languages: Shell, TCL/Expect, PERL
Ability to build and maintain automated monitoring systems, back-up/archive servers, database servers, file-servers, web servers, DNS, development and staging servers, source control and deployment systems.
Need to place a senior level candidate to be the focal point for new and on-going projects as well as lead to spear head new initiatives which require re-engineering current:
Server/System solution
Automation of deployment strategies
Centralization of system administration
Continuous improvements to our process flows
Ensure that quality assurance takes place with all rollouts
Manage project deliverables
Mentor and transfer knowledge to existing team as well as operations
Enhance documentation
