Position Overview

As an ASME Quality Assurance Manager, you will be responsible for leading the revision, implementation, and ongoing management of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code program, while also providing QA oversight of the Welding Program across project sites. This role requires deep expertise in the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and strong leadership in driving updates to the ASME Quality Program. 

District Overview

Kiewit Power Constructors (KPC) provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a union craft force.  Kiewit Power Constructors builds major EPC power plant and solar projects throughout North America.

Location

The position is based out of Lenexa, KS.

Responsibilities
  • Lead updates to the ASME Quality Manual and all related implementing procedures in response to Code revisions, lessons learned, corporate initiatives, and changes in field work practices.
  • Support engineering teams by conducting regular project audits to verify that Procedure Specifications and Performance Qualifications comply with the KNS QMS, ASME Code requirements, and KNS Standard Quality Procedures.
  • Manage ASME and National Board certification activities, including coordination with Authorized Nuclear Inspectors and Supervisors for certification and recertification efforts. This may require travel to Lenexa, Kansas, and potentially to Kiewit Canadian locations.
  • Assist project teams in preparing to extend Power Corporate ASME certifications to project sites, including planning and coordinating meetings with clients and KNS Authorized Nuclear Inspection agencies.
  • Support the expansion of existing ASME N Certificates to include design and fabrication activities.
  • Provide training to project personnel on the ASME Quality Manual and Project Quality Plans.
  • Oversee ASME Code compliance for all work governed by the ASME Quality Control Manual, including reviewing newly issued ASME Code Cases that may impact Power Projects.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with the Authorized Inspection Agency and jurisdictional authorities, and assist in securing authorized inspection services for project needs.
  • Conduct regular audits of projects performing ASME Code work to ensure full and proper implementation of the Power ASME Quality Program.
  • Ensure all project Quality Records-including ASME documentation-are accurately completed, maintained, and submitted through routine audits and assessments.
  • Research and respond to technical inquiries, providing interpretation and guidance on construction codes and standards.
  • Coordinate with Canadian Operations, as needed, to support ASME and CSA certification efforts for Kiewit's Canadian subsidiaries.
Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, including Section III, Section VIII, and applicable Code Cases
  • Strong understanding of welding codes and standards (e.g., ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1, CSA standards) and their application in construction and fabrication
  • Proven experience managing or supporting ASME and National Board certification programs, including coordination with Authorized Nuclear Inspectors (ANI/ANS)
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply quality management systems (QMS), including procedure development, implementation, and auditing
  • Experience conducting quality audits, supplier evaluations, and compliance assessments for ASMEregulated work
  • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to revise Quality Manuals, procedures, and projectspecific quality plans
  • Ability to provide clear guidance on code interpretation, technical requirements, and quality expectations to engineering and field teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, inspectors, project teams, and regulatory authorities
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage documentation, certification activities, and multiple concurrent priorities
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites, inspection agencies, and corporate locations as required
