About Us:
American Home Contractors is a leading solar roofing company known for high-quality installations of Tesla Solar Roofs, GAF Solar Shingles, and traditional PV systems. Based out of Columbia, MD, our Solar Division supports homeowners across the Northeast. Were currently hiring skilled, full-time Solar Technicians to focus on the removal and replacement of solar systems, as well as ongoing maintenance and troubleshooting.
Position Overview:
This W2, full-time field role involves working with a team to remove and reinstall residential solar systems, perform site evaluations, and complete system maintenance and minor repairs. Youll often work in coordination with licensed electricians and roofing teams. A take-home company vehicle is provided, and overnight travel is required approximately 35% of the time.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Remove and reinstall solar panels for roofing or system upgrades.
  • Inspect systems for damage, wear, or inefficiencies during removal/replacement.
  • Perform basic maintenance, repairs, and solar panel cleaning.
  • Secure racking, hardware, and panels according to system specs.
  • Maintain clean, OSHA-compliant job sites.
  • Collaborate closely with licensed electricians on electrical tie-ins or troubleshooting.
  • Document completed work and report any field issues.
Qualifications:
Preferred Experience:
  • 1+ years in solar installation, roofing, construction, or electrical trades.
  • Familiarity with solar racking systems, tools, and safety practices.
Requirements:
  • Comfortable working on rooftops, ladders, and in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, kneel, bend, and work on sloped surfaces.
  • Valid drivers license with clean driving record (vehicle provided).
  • Strong attention to detail and a team-first mindset.
  • Must live within 85 miles of our Columbia, MD warehouse, or be willing to relocate.
Nice to Have:
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
  • Basic understanding of PV systems or willingness to learn.
