Job description

Overview

Beitzel Corporation is seeking a Mechanical Solar Foreman to lead field teams in the installation of utility-scale, ground-mount solar systems (1–25 MWDC) and to support a wide range of industrial, mechanical, and construction projects. This is a working foreman role—you won’t just supervise the job, you’ll be in the field getting it done, side-by-side with your crew.

This role calls for someone with strong mechanical knowledge, a proactive mindset, and the ability to support and oversee projects from the ground up. In addition to solar, you’ll work on diverse industrial and mechanical construction jobs, so adaptability and a solid base in construction fundamentals are key. Basic electrical knowledge in an industrial setting is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Measuring, cutting, assembling, hoisting, anchoring, and placing solar modules and racking
  • Install racking foundation piles within tight manufacturer tolerances
  • Install photovoltaic solar racking and modules in accordance with codes and standards, using drawings, schematics, and installation manuals
  • Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control
  • Run conduit and cables from solar panels to combiner boxes
  • Operate machinery such as but not limited to forklifts, man-lifts, excavators, dozers, and pile drivers

Working Conditions

  • Sit, talk, hear, read, and write
  • Regularly walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Perform duties on-site and underground at industrial locations
  • Work in extreme temperature conditions and environments
  • Perform work at a variety of heights

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of mechanical solar installation required, including Single Axis Tracker and Fixed Tilt systems
  • 4+ years of supervisory experience in industrial construction preferred
  • Experience running large crews (20+) and tracking daily production
  • Experience installing Fixed Tilt Systems, including but not limited to manufacturers such as APA, NexTracker, TerraSmart, Solar FlexRack, and Schletter preferred
  • Experience installing Single Axis Tracker Systems, including but not limited to manufacturers such as ATI, NexTracker, TerraSmart, FTC, Solar FlexRack, and GameChange preferred
  • Working knowledge of construction software such as Procore
  • Knowledge of industry standard pile refusal and remediation practices preferred
  • Knowledge of pile load testing (compression, lateral, and axial) preferred
