Commercial Solar Project Coordinator

Location:Chandler, AZ

Type:Full-Time, Monday-Friday, In-person position

Sun Valley Solar Solutions is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Commercial Project Coordinator to own the entire operational life cycle of our solar construction projects.You will manage a dynamic portfolio of projects, from 30kW to 2MW, delivering clean power across Arizona.

Key Responsibilities

The Commercial Project Coordinator manages a handful of projects simultaneously, utilizing the support and technical knowledge of our construction field management team. Think of this role as keeping the field organized, the customers informed and the project on budget.

Logistics and Procurement:

    • Proactively manage the pre-construction pipeline,identifying and resolving potential bottlenecks in engineering and permitting to prevent project delays.
    • Manage the end-to-end procurement process, including creating the detailed Bill of Materials (BOM) with field management input.
    • Source materials for the best price and coordinate delivery schedules based on job needs.
    • Manage all agreements and schedule coordination for subcontracted labor.
    • Coordinate change ordersand budget adjustments with customers & sub-contractors when site conditions or the scope of work deviates from the original plan.
    • Drive subcontractor performance and coordination by enforcing strict adherence to sub agreements, project schedules, safety protocols, and quality standards.

Compliance and Permitting:

    • Prepare, submit, and monitor all required project permits with local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
    • Manage all utility paperwork and interconnection requirements (APS, SRP, etc.).
    • Facilitate the final project stages, including commissioning and inspections, by ensuring all documentation and requirements are fully accounted for and closed out.

Communication and Tracking:

    • Act as the primary contact for external stakeholders (customers, General Contractors, Facilities Management) for project status updates.
    • Communicate and coordinate closely with internal Construction Management team to ensure smooth execution.
    • Be responsible for updating and tracking the project budget in Excel.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience:Proven project coordination experience within the commercial or residential solar industry is extremely helpful, however any related construction coordination experience will be considered.
  • Technical Knowledge:Some practical electrical knowledge is required to understand products this role will procure. The ability to read solar electrical construction drawings is also extremely helpful.
  • Software Proficiency:Experience utilizing project management software, preferably Builder Trend plus Excel and Google Suite tools
  • Core Skills: Must be extremely organized, highly detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with a variety of knowledge levels from field teams to CEOs
  • Work Environment:This is primarily an office-based position in Chandler, AZ, with some travel to project sites when needed. Some work is conducted in a warehouse setting when verifying materials received by the warehouse staff.
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday. 6:30 am to 3:00 pm is most common to align with the field schedules but start time could be modified if needed.
