What does a solar panel product engineer do?

A Solar Panel Product Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving photovoltaic (solar panel) products and systems. They work on optimizing the efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of solar panels, often collaborating with cross-functional teams in research, manufacturing, and quality assurance. Their duties may include testing new materials, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring products meet industry standards and regulations. Solar Panel Product Engineers play a crucial role in advancing solar technology and supporting the growth of renewable energy.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a solar panel product engineer?

To excel as a Solar Panel Product Engineer, you need a solid background in electrical or mechanical engineering, experience with photovoltaic (PV) systems, and a relevant engineering degree. Familiarity with CAD software, PV simulation tools like PVSyst, and certifications such as NABCEP are typically required. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective communication help you collaborate with cross-functional teams and address technical challenges.
