Job description

ION Solar is a rapidly expanding, full-service residential solar company with a strong nationwide presence. Our dedicated team is committed to making solar energy accessible and affordable for homeowners across the country.
We are currently seeking Licensed Electricians to install, maintain, and repair electrical power, communications, lighting, and control systems for various projects in the solar installation process.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Complete projects within established policies and procedures
  • Complete projects within time frames and budgets
  • Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on crew safety
  • Assemble the solar array racking, properly seal all roof penetrations, and install all relative equipment
  • MSP Rebuilds & Upgrades
  • Responsible for the groundwork of a solar installation which includes the connection to the MSP
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues
  • Communicate with customers in a professional, and respectful manner, answering all questions and complaints to the best of your ability
  • Document proper paperwork for each job completed
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools
  • Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Education and Experience:
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Solar or relevant experience is preferred

Licensed - Completion of a formal apprenticeship and proof of valid electrician's license required
Unlicensed - Must be enrolled in a trade apprenticeship
Driving Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must have a clean driving record as determined by a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
  • Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
  • Must be able to work at great heights.
  • Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

Work Environment:
  • PV installation is done outdoors. Installers work on rooftops but also sometimes work in attics and crawl spaces to connect panels to the electrical grid.
  • PV installers work as part of a team and may require the help of technicians and electricians.
