Kingspan Energy is the Group's solar PV division that was started in the UK in 2009 and entered the US in 2014 due to the success of the unit in the UK. Kingspan Energy has constructed the largest commercial rooftop PV system in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, the United Kingdom and in Australia. Through our global reach and local knowledge, the company is actively growing and has an immediate need for a Solar/Lighting Operations Manager to work out of Kingspan Energy's Office in Stamford, Connecticut.

Job Description

Summary:

The successful candidate shall be responsible for managing Kingspan Energy Northeast's ("Kingspan") Operational Activities: 1) Commercial and Industrial Solar Photovoltaic Rooftop Installations and 2) LED Lighting Efficiency Upgrades and will work from our Stamford, Connecticut office.

 Essential Duties:

  • Supervise and manage the performance of Kingspan's team of senior project managers, project managers and site supervisors;

  • Supervise and manage the performance of Kingspan's installation subcontractors;

  • Supervise and manage the performance of Kingspan's professional engineers;

  • Coordinate and work integrally with the Kingspan Commercial unit and Kingspan Contracts team to develop Solar PV and LED projects

  • Coordinate site survey visits and audits

  • Assist commercial team in cost constraints in the bidding of potential projects

  • Prepare construction budgets prior to construction start and monitor actual vs forecast costs

  • Prepare project schedules through Microsoft project or similar platform

  • Manage major vendor relationships, material procurement of material, and delivery of material

  • Approve payments for materials and contractors

  • Manage project change orders with contractors and clients

  • Report weekly to North American General Manager

  • Report monthly to North American General Manager and Global Business Director

  • Develop and implement training strategy, and process improvements

  • Evaluate the potential of employees of contractors

Managing Activities:

  • Implement operational process efficiencies.

  • Manage and plan site activities to ensure customer orders are completed to meet delivery requirements on time and in full.

  • Maintain and improve divisional targets.

  • Continually strive to improve the operational process.

  • Maintain and improve operational efficiencies and potential cost savings to Kingspan

  • Report, manage and reduce warranty issues

  • Secure present and future business whilst improving key targets.

  • Develop and progress the business in line with Company plans.

Managing Information:

  • Ensure accurate and relevant data reported.

  • Report and action key weekly measures.

  • Ensure full communication throughout the business.

  • Provide communication to Teams.

  • Project positively the Company's goals and image.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline

  • 5-7 years relevant experience in an Operations Manager role

  • Experience of building renewable energy projects is desirable

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Proven ability to build relationships across various functional teams

  • Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, flexibility, and ability to manage and reset priorities in a rapidly changing environment

  • Self-motivated individual

  • Strong understanding of construction contract's and construction project risk

  • Proven track record of managing multi-discipline teams

  • Supply chain management

Computer Skills:

  • Must be highly proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project) and Outlook

  • AutoCad & Dialux preferable but not essential 

  • Microsoft Project
