Job description

ION Solar is a rapidly expanding, full-service residential solar company with a strong nationwide presence. Our dedicated team is committed to making solar energy accessible and affordable for homeowners across the country.

We are looking for a Crew Lead Installer to assemble, install, and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The role also involves providing leadership to other crew members on the job.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assembles and installs solar panels on roofs
  • Configures PV systems based on site conditions and customers needs and expectations; connects panels to the power grid
  • Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on crew safety
  • Complete projects within established policies and procedures
  • Ensures that equipment is weather sealed
  • Performs routine maintenance on PV systems
  • Assisting the Electrician with connecting PV panels to the electrical system
  • Train crew members up to speed on all components utilized during installation (procedures, tools, lines of communication, etc.)
  • Check over provided jobs (pack out) before leaving the warehouse each morning to ensure provided material.
  • Review plans and count parts from the plan set to verify BOM
  • Responsible for final system walkthrough with the customer ensuring quality and aesthetic of install
  • Cleanliness of job site and lon installation vehicles
  • Responsible for following and actively enforcing all OSHA and ION safety guidelines at their location, including attending weekly safety meetings and safety inspections per ION policy
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of PV equipment and installation.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical wiring and equipment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read building plans.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools to install PV panels.
  • Ability to use ION technology, such as smartphones, Paycom, Field Pro, SalesForce, etc.
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record required

Education and Experience:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Solar Install experience is required
  • Vocational or technical school training is preferred

Driving Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must have a clean driving record as determined by a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work at great heights.
  • Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing ladders.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds at a time.

Work Environment:

  • Installation is done outdoors. Installers work on rooftops but also sometimes work in attics and crawl spaces to connect panels to the electrical grid.
  • Installers work as part of a team. Installation of solar panels requires the help of Technicians and Electricians.
