Job description

Overview

Namaste Solar is seeking Commercial Apprentice Electricians. Our Commercial Electrician Apprentices install commercial solar systems ranging from 100kW to utility scale ground and roof mounted solar PV projects. Our Commercial Electrician Apprentices are registered Apprentices working towards an electrical license. This role works with licensed Journeyman Electricians to install both the electrical AC and DC portions of our projects. Namaste Solar supports and helps pay for Apprenticeship training in the four-year Apprentice program with IECRM (Independent Electrical Contractors Rocky Mountain). This training is a requirement for the position.

Key Responsibilities:

Includes but not limited to:

  • Learn from, take direction from, and perform tasks under the supervision of licensed commercial electricians, team leads, and construction managers
  • Work safely at all times
  • Keep a clean work space/jobsite at all times
  • Work on the ground, on ladders, on lifts, and on roofs with varying pitches and heights
  • Become familiar with and continue to learn all relevant National Electric Code (NEC) requirements for electrical installations
  • Install raceways, pull wire, install conduit, dig and backfill trenches, set and hang electrical equipment, and other relevant tasks to building our projects
  • Be dependable and on time for all required work
  • Continued evolution of skills and knowledge with PV installations
  • Travel to jobsites from home location daily
  • Enrollment in four-year Apprenticeship education program
  • Ability to meet physical demands of the role

Office Location:

  • Denver/Longmont with travel from home to job site a daily occurrence

Physical demands & Work Environment:

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Driving required to site locations.
  • Work environment: The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate. Work environment changes can be expected and may take place in the office and work outdoors on the ground and on roofs. On our project sites, exposure to dangerous electrical gear and wiring is possible. The daily temperature outside varies from hot to cold depending on the season.
  • Travel: Daily travel from home to jobsite is required. Travel to project locations requiring overnight lodging (travel/lodging per diems included) is infrequent but can happen.
