Job description
Ignite Digital Services is seeking a skilled Electronics Technician to support Government clients in a rapid prototyping lab environment. This role is focused on the hands-on fabrication, integration and testing of power generation and distribution systems designs created by our electrical engineering team. The technician will be responsible for translating electrical schematics and engineering drawings into functional hardware, fabricating, integrating, and testing AC/DC power systems supporting battery, solar, renewable & alternative energy solutions. In this role, you assist the engineers in the fabrication and integration of power systems, telemetry systems, multiple sensing capabilities and other components across the TIDE platforms to develop and deploy a survivable and modular data collection package for our clients. This position is ideal for a hands-on professional who excels at bringing engineering concepts to life and is adept at working in a fast-paced, multi-discipline environment and who has the ability to respond to changing requirements. You're a great fit if you have all this plus relevant experience working within a DoW environment to develop and deploy prototypes.
Tactical Integrated Data Ecosystem (TIDE) project.
Responsibilities:
- Implement Engineering Designs: Translate the electrical engineer's designs, schematics, and wiring diagrams into functional prototypes by performing hands-on fabrication, assembly, and integration of electronic and power systems
- Component Assembly: Perform precision hands-on tasks including soldering, creating wire harnesses, and assembling components onto circuit boards as specified by the engineering team
- System Integration: Construct and integrate the assembled electronic hardware and power systems into waterproof enclosures, ensuring they fit within the mechanical constraints of the modular buoy platform according to the overall system design
- Execute Test Plans: Execute detailed test plans developed by the engineering team to validate that the prototype's performance, reliability, and environmental resilience meet the design specifications
- Troubleshooting and Feedback: Assist in troubleshooting and diagnosing technical issues with prototypes, providing hands-on data and feedback to help lead engineers identify root causes and refine their designs
- Lab and Inventory Management: Maintain a clean and organized lab environment, including the management of component inventory and tools required for prototype builds
- Documentation: Accurately document build procedures, test results, and any modifications made during assembly, creating a clear record for the engineering team to review for future design iterations.
Qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of experience as an electronics technician, preferably supporting engineering or R&D projects. Experience within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment is a plus
- Education: Associate's Degree or Technical Certification in Electronics Technology, or equivalent military/on-the-job training
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with soldering, building wire harnesses, and assembling electronic enclosures
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical documents, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings, to build systems from them
- Familiarity with standard electronic test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies, to execute test procedures
- Experience assembling and handling communications hardware (e.g., radios, antennas, mesh networking boards) and sensor systems
- Experience with techniques for waterproofing and potting electronics is highly desirable
- Strong problem-solving skills and a high level of attention to detail
- Ability to work independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
