Job description

Temporal · New York City (preferred) or Global Remote · Full-time

About Temporal

Temporal builds low-latency infrastructure at the core of Solana. We operate across transaction landing, validator infrastructure, and proprietary trading systems. Our flagship product is Nozomi, for transaction landing.

All of it earns and spends in small pieces. Tips, rebates, block rewards, validator income, trading fills. Millions of events a day, denominated in SOL, at prices that move. Turning that into numbers a finance team can rely on is a real engineering problem, and it is this one.

The role

We are hiring a data engineer to own the data that sits between the chain and the books.

Our pipelines today are built for product and trading. They index a lot of Solana and they answer the questions engineers and traders ask. Finance asks different questions. You will build the layer that answers those: pipelines, models, and views that reconcile on‑chain activity to revenue, cost, and P&L in a form finance can query and an auditor can follow.

Then you keep going. The same modeling work applies across the rest of the business, and roughly two thirds of your time will go to analytics and pipeline work on our products.

You are not the accountant. We have accountants. You are the engineer who understands Solana well enough to hand them numbers that are right, and who cares when something does not tie out.

What you will do
  • Model revenue and cost on chain: what comes in, what we pay to land a transaction, what goes back to customers, and what is left.

  • Own the datasets, schemas, and materialized views the finance team queries directly, with the retention and export paths their work actually needs.

  • Reconcile SOL flows across wallets and venues so balances and transfers tie out, and join on‑chain events to off‑chain price data so every event carries a defensible dollar value at the moment it happened.

  • Build realized P&L from wallet‑level flows, including cost basis and lot tracking. That is a different question from the markout views our trading dashboards run on, and both have to be right.

  • Work in SQL on ClickHouse and PostgreSQL, and in Rust when the ingestion path needs to change.

  • Spend the rest of your time on analytics across the company: MEV detection, landing performance, validator economics, and whatever question trading or product brings you that week.

  • Make it auditable. The goal is a system, not a spreadsheet that one person understands.

What we are looking for
  • Strong data engineering fundamentals: pipeline design, ETL/ELT, data modeling, orchestration, and reliability.

  • Production experience with ClickHouse, including the parts of materialized views that get hard, and with PostgreSQL.

  • Proficiency in Rust, or strong systems‑language experience and a willingness to work in Rust when the ingestion path calls for it.

  • Deep familiarity with Solana, or the demonstrated ability to build genuine protocol fluency fast: accounts, transaction structure, instructions and CPIs, execution, and block structure.

  • Reconciliation instinct. You have built something where two sources of truth had to agree, and you were the one who found out why they did not.

  • Comfort working outside engineering. You can sit with finance, work out what they actually need, and turn it into a data contract.

  • Care for correctness. Numbers that do not reconcile bother you until they do.

Especially relevant: data infrastructure at a trading firm, exchange, brokerage, or blockchain analytics company; on‑chain data work such as indexers, decoders, or analytics platforms; crypto accounting, treasury, revenue, or settlement systems; high‑volume streaming pipelines in production; analytics engineering where you owned both the pipeline and the insights it produced. Working knowledge of cost basis, FIFO and lot selection, and realized versus unrealized P&L is a plus, but you do not need it on day one. You need to want to learn the domain properly rather than just take requests from it.

You do not need to be an accountant, and we are not asking you to become one. You do not need years of crypto experience, a specific degree, or to check every box.

How we work

Temporal is small, technical, and fast‑moving. Engineers own real systems, not tickets. High autonomy, high accountability, direct access to production, minimal process. We use AI tools daily and expect you to as well.

Location and compensation

Location: New York City strongly preferred. We will consider fully remote candidates who are exceptional fits.

Base salary range: $200,000 to $250,000, depending on experience and level.

In addition to base salary, all roles may be eligible for equity and performance‑based upside. Base is only part of total compensation here, and compensation scales quickly with demonstrated impact. For exceptional candidates, we have the budget to be competitive with top trading firms; the posted range reflects base salary at hire, not the ceiling of what a career here looks like.

Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package including 100% employer‑paid health, dental, and vision insurance; paid time off; a technology stipend; 401(k); and an annual discretionary bonus, which may include stock options.

Equal Opportunity Employer: We are committed to building an inclusive workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. We provide equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, caregiver status, citizenship or immigration status, veteran or military status, arrest or conviction record (where protected by law), or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, New York State, or New York City law. We evaluate candidates on ability and evidence of work, and we welcome people with non‑traditional backgrounds.

Temporal is an equal opportunity employer.
