Job description

Frontier Cooperative is seeking a CUSTOM APPLICATOR for the Nehawka, NE area. FC's Custom Applicators perform the custom application of fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides with dry and liquid machines, assist in Operations, & reesponsibilities also include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Recommend and apply pesticides and fertilizers by operating various agriculture vehicles & equipment.
  • Educate patrons on products being applied to fields, techniques utilized, & offer continued support with various products & services. Assist the sales staff in ensuring orders are correct and patron needs are met.
  • Requires mixing, loading, and application of crop production products/plant nutritionals, etc.
  • Mixes, handles, loads, & delivers bulk and packaged materials, seed & other agriculture input; follows up on weed control in sprayed areas, & occasionally takes soil samples, when needed.
  • Maintains accurate Application/Spray Record & Log Books.
  • Performs daily vehicle & equipment inspections; cleans and maintains equipment; performs maintenance & calibration on application equipment; assists mechanic & operations departments.
  • Provides support in monitoring inventories of bulk tanks & assists in the physical inventories of agronomy & energy products.
  • Participates in continuing education for maintaining pesticide applicator license & other licenses, as needed.

SKILLS NEEDED for SUCCESS in this ROLE:
  • Applicator & Pesticide license is required, or ability to obtain one within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Commercial Driver's License, or ability to obtain one within a reasonable amount of time is preferred, but not required. FC will assist the right candidate with obtaining their CDL license.
  • Mechanically inclined with basic knowledge of Ag Pesticides & Weed Identification.
  • Communication & interpersonal skills, including the ability to think clearly & problem solve.
  • The desire to be involved in Agriculture & work for a Cooperative.
  • Ability to accurately read field & plat maps, operate farm equipment & heavy machinery,
  • Ability to work without direct supervision & uphold a professional competence to safety.
  • This position is exposed to outdoor elements & grain dust; when working outdoors & around moving equipment/mechanical parts, this position may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock.
