Job Overview

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the general direction of the Sr. Manager II Information Technology Quality Assurance, the Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) will design, develop, implement, and maintain the automated testing frameworks, test scripts, and tools to ensure the quality and reliability of software applications. SDETs collaborate closely with software developers, data engineers, and other stakeholders to identify test requirements, implement test cases, and integrate automated testing into the software development lifecycle. This role requires a solid understanding of software development principles, proficiency in programming, and scripting languages, expertise in manual testing, and proficiency in test automation tools and methodologies.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and maintains automated test scripts and testing frameworks to verify the functionality, performance, and security of software applications and data repositories using tools such as Java, Selenium WebDriver, Junit, TestNG, Maven and Jenkins.
  • Executes manual and automated test cases, including data validation tests, reports defects, and verifies defect fixes to ensure the overall quality of the software and data. Integrates automated tests, including data validation tests, into the change pipeline to provide rapid feedback on code changes and ensure high-quality software releases and data updates.
  • Manages and generates test data needed for automated testing and data validation while ensuring data consistency and integrity.
  • Works closely with software developers, data engineers and stakeholders to understand application functionality, data processing pipelines, and provide observations on code and data changes to align test scenarios to stakeholder expectations.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to create test plans, test cases, and test strategies based on product requirements, user stories, and data quality standards.
  • Provides clear and concise test documentation to software developers, data engineers and stakeholders highlighting test results and potential risks.
  • Performs regression testing to verify that software updates or new features do not introduce unexpected issues into the data lake.
  • Investigates and debugs software and data issues while working with development teams and data engineers to resolve them efficiently.
  • May provide mentorship and training to Quality Assurance Engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer-related field, engineering, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience as an Automation Software Development Engineer in Test or a similar role, including at least three (3) years of application integration testing and two (2) years of creating automation frameworks using tools such as Selenium with a centralized framework repository
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work in a high-volume demanding IT environment, who is held accountable to meet deadlines for complex projects.
  • Skill in Selenium WebDriver automation frameworks using Java.
  • Skill in programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C#, or others) for test automation and data validation, including knowledge of object-oriented programming principles.
  • Ability to prepare and automate functional and regression test scripts with test automation frameworks and tools (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Appium).
  • Ability to use version control systems (e.g., Git) and continuous integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Maven).
  • Skill in data validation tools such as QuerySurge.
  • Knowledge of data lake technology test methodologies.
  • Ability to use tools such as JMeter and LoadRunner for scalable performance testing.
  • Knowledge of integration testing tools such as Postman and SoapUI.
  • Skill in written and oral communication to all levels internal and external to the organization.
  • Skill in defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, draws valid conclusions, and provides solutions.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize assignments, and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Knowledge of software testing methodologies and the testing life cycle.
  • Knowledge of software development processes, agile methodologies, and the SDLC.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport's Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.
  • Must take Cyber awareness training within thirty (30) days from date of employment.

DESIRABLE

  • Desirable certification in Quality Assurance (e.g., CQE, CSQE, ISTQB or other ASQ certification)
  • Desired experience in solicitation and elicitation of client needs and requirements.
  • Desired experience in web-responsive and native mobile (iOS and Android) testing.
  • Desired experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems in an IT environment.
  • Desired experience with administration of Quality Assurance test management tools.
