Job Description

At ADGA, our teams support Government and industry partners on projects that protect critical systems and strengthen operational readiness. We are seeking a Software Architect with knowledge of systems of systems design, and solid DevOps background. The role is to support the development of the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) Cloud-Native training environment. Require someone with strong triage and self/time management skills as the RCN develops, pivots to right fit solutions.  

Exhaustive Cloud-Native architecture knowledge is not immediately required, there is initial project scope to support development of the successful candidate with promising transferable, adaptive knowledge and skills. Within this role individuals with the required knowledge and/or transferrable skills will have the opportunity to develop the capabilities to deliver the requirements listed below.  

This posting is for an anticipated position expected to commence in mid-September. To accommodate the required security clearance process, we are accepting applications in advance. 

Key Requirements:  

  • Develop Cloud-Native architecture for the RCN Cloud component systems and the Synthetic Training hub, so that each can be deployed as collaborative self-contained units relying only on public or private Cloud-Native infrastructure. 
  • Find or recommend Horizon or Synthetic Training Hub Open Source or Commercial components available as containers or from which containers can be built. 
  • Create Horizon and Synthetic Training Hub documentation including but not limited to: block level architectural component design diagrams, network traffic diagrams and firewall rulesets documenting allowed traffic flow between components, swim-lane diagrams showing authentication states of relevant personas, for each required workflow, and tables identifying how each component system implements each required security control, or how the component inherits the security control implementation from its containing environment. 
  • Develop IaC Deployments for Navy Organizational infrastructure required to support Cloud and Synthetic Training Hub pipelines. 
  • Develop Cloud-Native IaC deployments for Navy Cloud component systems and the Synthetic Training hub, so that the RCN or CAF can easily size and tune its deployments to meet performance requirements, reduce cost and easily re-deploy on demand deliverable systems should new requirements or emergency situations requiring rapid re-deployment. 
  • Build TLA components from source when required, to create enable container creation. 
  • Develop TLA Component containers for use in Horizon Kubernetes deployments. 
  • Develop Synthetic Training Hub containers to deliver co-operative multi-user M&S scenarios and their required user experience infrastructure.
Qualifications
  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree from a Canadian University (or recognized by the  
  • Canadian Information Centre for International Credentials (CICIC)) or a recognized College Technical Diploma in field of Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics. 
  • 10+ years of progressive experience as a Software Developer 
  • At least 4 years recent experience as a Software Architect designing, developing, and deploying software systems, as well as experience working on multiple projects with the following:   
    • Deriving functional requirements in Software Architecture systems 
    • Designing complex software systems which includes software and IT architecture 
    • Developing complex software systems including software and IT architecture 
    • Working in a Microsoft, and Unix/Linux operating system environment 
    • Integrating and testing software in a Software Architecture system 
    • Generated, updated, and maintained software design documentation 
    • Determining and implementing IT infrastructure 

Additional Information
  • Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret (Level II) Canadian Federal Government Security clearance VCR and Controlled Goods clearances.
  • Work can be done remotely from within Canada.
