CoorsTek, a leader in technical ceramics and a certified 'Great Place to Work' company, is looking for a Maintenance Intern to join our creative team. You will have the opportunity to join & lead a small, short-term maintenance project. Reporting to the Maintenance Lead, you will learn different equipment mechanical and electrical systems.
As a Maintenance Intern, you will play a key role in supporting our manufacturing team by contributing to the development and improvement of manufacturing processes, products, and equipment. You will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced engineers, maintenance and production staff to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of manufacturing, including equipment operations, diagnostics, improvement, & uptime. Through your work, you will help to identify and implement improvements, troubleshoot issues, and support ongoing production operations. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world challenges and contribute to the success of a dynamic manufacturing organization.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Use strategic thinking to approach problems and create solutions

  • Learn how to locate sources of problems by observing mechanical and/or electrical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments, drawings, and diagrams.

  • Learn to remove/replace defective parts by disassembling machinery, using hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools

  • Present recommendations to management for equipment TPM improvements based on data & creativity

  • Charter a project, develop a plan & implement an upgrade or new system with assistance from a Sr. Maintenance Personnel

  • Assist Maintenance team with brainstorming & testing ideas to reduce maintenance costs on re-occurring failure modes.

Job Requirements
Education & Experience:

  • Must be currently enrolled in an associate's degree Mechatronics or Electro-mechanical program.

  • Year Preference: Prior to graduating year

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Interest and/or coursework in equipment troubleshooting (including PLC) & system creation.

  • Problem-solving: Interns should be able to analyze complex problems, identify potential solutions, and implement effective strategies to address issues that arise in the course of their work.

  • Teamwork: Interns should be able to collaborate effectively with other team members, providing and receiving feedback, and contributing to team goals and objectives.

  • Data analysis: Interns should be able to analyze and interpret data related to their field of study, with assistance from Sr. Personnel, using methods and software to draw conclusions and make recommendations.

  • Proficiency or experience in Microsoft Word and Excel is helpful.

  • Root cause analysis and problem-solving

  • Technical writing and documentation

Target Hiring Range

Hourly: USD 17.86 - USD 21.00
