Job description

Position Summary: Provides IT technical support to JEA employees for software, hardware, and cloud-based systems. Performs IT support duties in a timely and professional manner. Responsible for documentation and maintenance of IT hardware and software.

Must stay in compliance with JEA IT security policies. Criteria: Education/Experience: High school diploma (GED) and at least two years of experience or associate degree in IT field required. Skills/Abilities: Must possess excellent customer relations skills, communication skills by phone and in person, and the ability to work well with others.

The ability to think logically in problem-solving and be capable of multitasking when necessary. Must be able to operate in a high-paced work environment. Certifications/Licenses: CompTIA A+, Net+, Server+ or Microsoft Certification within one year.

Physical Demands: The ability to operate a standard company vehicle. The ability to see and read printed material. The ability to lift and install computer hardware and route the appropriate cables when necessary.

The ability to transport computer hardware between JEA campuses and remote, at-home workstations. Work Environment: Indoor office conditions and field-related IT work. Travels to various JEA campuses and remote (in-home) workstations to perform computer installations and removal, as well as software installs and upgrades when necessary.

Participation in an on-call rotation and availability to work overtime, including weekend hours, as necessary. Driving: Must have and maintain a valid TN Class "D" license. Telephone: Must maintain an operating telephone and furnish the number to his/her supervisor.

Essential Functions: Resolves support requests, including service desk, helpdesk calls, and walk-in requests in a timely manner. Installs and configures IT hardware and software components. Troubleshoots technical hardware and software issues.

Assists in maintaining hardware and software asset inventories. Assures materials and supplies are kept stocked and organized. Assists with the establishment and enforcement of computer, server, and network security measures.

Upgrades and replaces aging or damaged technical hardware and software solutions. Provides hosted and cloud application support for end users. Provides technical assistance, system testing, and training.

Ensures endpoint security and compliance requirements are met. Supports enterprise security solutions and initiatives. Performs patch management activities to ensure hardware and software solutions are up to date.

Provides support for regulatory and compliance initiatives. Creates and modifies documentation for knowledge base items. Attends training to keep abreast of technological changes.

Assists interns with day-to-day work. Participates in on-call duties. Establishes good relationships with all departments and colleagues.

Maintains a safe work environment and follows company safety policies. Performs additional duties as requested. Department: Information Technology This is a full time position.
