Summer Auditing Bootcamp  

Interested in auditing and looking to get more out of an internship experience? We have the opportunity for you! In traditional internships, an intern is generally assigned random tasks without a great deal of meaning. Get a meaningful experience at Haynie’s Summer Auditing Bootcamp. You will perform an entire 401(k) audit from beginning to end in a classroom format as though you were a student. There will be a daily lesson on auditing theory, and you will immediately apply the concepts learned to an actual client. After completing your first 401(k) audit, you will experience what employment life actually feels like at Haynie by simulating a staff role. In your six-week journey with us, you will get support, guidance, mentoring, and coaching. Lastly, at the end of the internship, we will discuss possible employment at Haynie & Company.  This internship will be based in the Littleton and Loveland, Colorado offices. 


Dates for this internship will be June 7, 2027 - July 22, 2027


What you will learn and obtain from this Internship: 

  • Apply accounting concepts in a professional setting.?Use principles learned in school—such as financial reporting, auditing, taxation, and adjusting entries—on actual client work.  
  • Develop audit and assurance skills.?Learn how to prepare workpapers, perform testing, document procedures, analyze account balances, and understand internal controls. 
  • Learn professional accounting software.?Gain experience with programs such as Excel, audit documentation systems, and the firm's internal applications. 
  • Develop professional communication skills.?Communicate clearly with associates, seniors, managers, partners, and clients through emails, meetings, questions, and documentation. 

Specific to 401(k) Auditing 

  • Ensure that the 401(k) benefits of employees are being properly administered by testing payroll, contributions, distributions, and loans of the employee benefit plan 
  • Explore the inner workings of the human resources and payroll functions of various companies and evaluate internal controls  

Qualifications 

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing the following degrees/majors: Bachelor of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy, or equivalent program 
  • Undergraduate (preferably juniors/seniors) and graduate students are eligible to apply 
  • Completion of an auditing course is highly recommended 
  • Ability to navigate various computer applications, including Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel) 

The program runs for six weeks in the summer with Fridays off. More details to come. 

Pay ranges from $27-$29/hour.
